ZEP wax on painted Aluminum sheathing

A lot of discussion on the Motorhome pages about using ZEP floor wax on fiberglass exteriors. Has anyone used this wax on a painted aluminum exterior? I have acquired a 1984 Kountry Lite 5th and need to shine it up.

Wax does better on painted aluminum. Also the stripper will eat the paint.

Thanks for the reply Oldbeek. I will give the Zep a try in an inconspicuous spot. Will keep away from stripper. Thanks.

Just use car wax on your trailer.

Remember that the paint is very, very thin and you don't want to use anything with an abrasive property. I used Awesome cleaner over the years, and it ate the layer of paint off--microabraisive. Mr. Clean Magic Erasers also have a melamine micro abrasive in it.

Meguiars cleaner wax has a polish built in, and would be abrasive.

Thanks for the tip. The decals/trim stripes are quite oxidized and could use a buffing of some type. I will be careful of too much paint removal.

When I still had my Jayco Eagle, I used Mother's FX liquid which has a cleaner and polish in it as well as a UV protector. Real easy to apply and remove. I still use it on all my toys ( including my wife's Mercedes) and the Travel Supreme.

The folks on the Wax Forum sure seem to like it (Mothers FX Synwax). Problem is finding a source here in the Pacific NW. Mothers website lists NAPA as carrying it, but the local store does not seem to have it. Will keep looking.

Thanks for the suggestion.
