I have a question regarding our air cpnditioning - since I know we have some mechanics here, I was hoping someone might be able to help.

Our 04 chevy silverado has a problem with the a/c. Once in awhile the a/c on the drivers side only will blow hot - the pass side will still blow cold. If we turn the engine off, it will reset and both sides blow cold - but we may have to do that several times during a drive. It does not help to only turn off the a/c. This only happens on the drivers side.

It has been to the dealer several times and they cannot figure it out. I would think it is some sort of sensor - but not being a mechanic, I really have no idea.

Anyone have a suggestion? thanks in advance for all helpful advice.

mods - if this is in the wrong section, please move.

Does it have dual zone heating/cooling? If so that would be the first place I'd look.

Dual Zone: I would suspect the temp control for the drivers side is failing intermittently. You might try turning the control temp to different settings and back.
It also could be a vent door problem in the heater box, once you turn off the engine and restart, the system goes to default and then back to your desired setting.
