We just put an order for a WW LE3505 with most options. Will a '05 F350 CC. LB. 4x4 diesel be ok to tow it? (not a dually)

I called WW on Friday to find out true weight with options but still waiting to hear back.

Figured theres got to be a few people out there with the same or close to the same setup.

Thanks for any feed back

A simple Yahoo search of "WW LE3505" tells me it's a Weekend Warrior model by Thor . . . but as jcd indicates, the info being sought will likely come from someone who may have a similar setup.

jcd,

16,000 lbs I was told by WW.
We have a 2005 F250 and the 350 and 250 have the same tow capacity.

The pin wight on the LE 3505 I was told is around 1600 lbs

They are both rated at 16,500 and 12,500.

We added air bags too!

My 5er GVW is 16,250#. Delivered weight is just under 14,000# with a pin weight of 2400#. Just as an example:

My GMC 3500 weighs in at 8000#. 8000 plus 2400 is 10,400#. GVWR is 11,400# so I am still under GVWR. However! GCWR is 22,000#. 8000 plus 16250 (I always go by trailer GVWR) is 24,250#. So I'm over GCWR by 2250#. You really need to pay attention to the numbers. I knew this going in so I ordered a new truck.

I ordered (due in next week) an F-350 with the TowBoss package. Increases the GCWR to about 26,000#. Need to wiegh the truck when it comes in but I don't expect any big difference between the GMC 3500 and the Ford F-350 weights. That being said, I will be under on both ratings once again.

about 10 people in the ToyHaulers portion of iRV2 have WW LE models, well... including me for instance. You will get a lot of expertise on that particular model there.
But there are also a couple LE35 in there as well as the 33 and 31, and the SLC models, and .....
There are some great mods for the LE in that part of our forum, and some interesting perspective on how to use the LE as well.
Two other people there just placed their LE35 order and we will have weight info.
Welcome jcd !!!

and CBOH1, i didn't know that WW made any trailer that had a GVWR over 15,000.
But to get the true weight of the trailer that was just ordered, it would of course have to be weighed, but if we had a list of the options that were ordered, we have some real world experience to pull from.

Here are the numbers from WW.

The way my unit LE 3505 is order the dry weight is 10,764. Add 3900 lbs for my 04 Jeep Wrangler and we get 14664 lbs.

After I add water and fuel there is another 1500 lbs.

I get a total of 16,164 lbs or 1,164 lbs over the units rating.

This is what WW told me. Take the 1650 lb pin weight and subtract that from the overall weight and that is what you are pulling? In other words what they said was my actual weight on the trailer would be 14,514 lbs. I am confused but this is what they told me.

Thanks

What they literally said was "and that is what you are pulling." Well that might be CLOSE to the truth, but it almost sounded like they were rationalizing being over their own GVWR, if I interpreted the conversation correctly.
But what you 'actually will be towing' probably will be even higher then that by a little bit, when you consider food, tools, and stuff will be added.
So were they implying that the GVWR changes when you have it hooked up to a tow vehicle? What happens if/when you unhook at a campsite? Does the 'carrying weight' of the triler shoot back up 1600 pounds?
hmmmm

FatDog, Exactly...

Here is some more information that I have found.
I called a local shop that repairs all types of RV's and the main mechanic said that he had a WW LE 3305 and the pin weight was at 1700 lbs loaded.

He said that the design with the triple axles have been designed to take the weight off of the truck and put it back on the trailers 3 6,000 lb rated axles.

WW said that when a Jeep is loaded it will actual take the weight and shift it back to the trailer until I add water that will put more weight on the pin. Like a see-saw.

I called Ford again and they said they need to have some department calculate the correct numbers and that takes 10 days.

I did go to this site: http://www.fordvehicles.com/help/gui...lingandtowing/ that Ford customer service had me use to find my vehicle and enter the info. It states that I can tow 15,400 lbs.

The selling dealer faxed over a paper they used when I purchased this truck last month that in writing says Capacity Specific: Maximum trailer towing 4x4 16,500lbs SRW and 16,200 lbs DRW

So now what numbers do I use?

By adding just water if all these lower numbers are used I will be 489 lbs over before any food or anything else.

If I use the numbers from the printed material from the dealer I would still have 611 lbs to spare.

Thanks

If you take your truck to the scales with driver, passengers, cargo, hitch, accessories, full fuel tanks, etc. and weigh it, you'll have the laden curb weight (LCW).

Now, if you want to stay within the manufacturer's ratings, you can use the following equations:

Truck GCWR - Truck LCW = maximum allowable total weight of loaded trailer

Truck GVWR - Truck LCW = maximum allowable pin/hitch weight of loaded trailer

The problem with the published "manufacturer's tow ratings" is:

1. They are for a base truck (no options or accessories) with a 150 lb driver

2. They totally ignore the GVWR issue above - that's why they incorrectly show that a lighter 3/4 ton truck can tow more than a 1 ton dually. Although that might be true in terms of GCWR, the 3/4 (or SRW 1 ton) truck will almost always exceed the truck's GVWR before it approaches its GCWR due to the higher (~20% of total loaded trailer weight) pin weight of a 5th wheel trailer. That's the advantage of the 1 ton dually!

You do not get to subtract the pin weight from the tow rating. I am afraid that who ever from WW that told you that does not understand how tow rating work. The trailer weighs what it weighs and you work with the GVWR and GCWR of the truck. They are just trying to justify a way to sell a large trailer for a smaller truck. The math just deos not work as they have explained.

With such a light pin weight you will probably experience some bucking of the truck due to the trailer rocking and the truck following.

Rusty has explained this pretty much as I did in my response to your PM.
