1996 F250 7.3 automatic - pulling a 39 ft Elkridge

Any thoughts about this truck pullling an Elkridge Fifth Wheel ? We have been pulling a 24 ft Adirondack FW, no problem. DH thinks chipping the truck would help. Would like to upgrade camper, but can we keep our current truck to pull it ?

Thx for the insight.

Check the tow rating of your truck & the weight (and also pin weight) of the Elkridge.
It will pull it but will it do it safely?

You don't say which Elkridge you have. The new ones, with one exception, are at least 14k, with some over 15k. Way too much weight for a '96 3/4 ton truck.

That's a pretty good sized 5th wheel to be pulled and trying to stop with a 18 year old 3/4 ton. JMO

It's more than engine power . The towing capacity rating of the chassis is the big factor.

That would be a down right scary combo! Seriously too much tail for the dog.
