F350 - 2007
Confused about TV...
Looking to move from a MH to a fifth wheel.
So, now we are looking at F-350 Singles and Duels but what engine? The price range we are in puts us in either a 2007 or 2008. We just can not afford a new one.
After doing searched; people are just not happy with the Power Strokes. I really like the King Ranch 2007 with the 6.0.
The fifth wheel we are looking at are Bay Hill 290 - 365rl...
Any help would be great.

I would up to a later model with the 6.7. Way more power, towing cap, mpg, etc. 6.0 had a lot of issues.

6.0 and 6.4 are decent after you spend the bucks to bulletproof them. If your not a die hard ford man I would look at a 07 back 5.9 cummins powered ram. There not as luxurious as the fords and gm's but they will keep on running for ever. If your set on a 6.0-6.4 ford I would find one that has had all the deletes and head stud upgrades already done as it's mucho bucks to have done by a shop.

They say by 2006 the 6 liter had the lowest complaints of any ford engines.

I'm not 100% sure but was 2007 part of the years that the cab had to be lifted off the truck if a major repair was needed?

That would really suck. I know my 2005 does not have much room under the hood.

They still do! Let's put it this way it's a faster less expensive way to do many engine repairs.

The cab doesn't have to be lifted on the 6.0 to remove the heads but if you have access to a lift it makes it much easier to work on if cab is removed. It takes about 2.5 hours to remove the cab and fenders together. I haven't messed with any 6.4 trucks but cab removal is a must on them. Being brand loyal only goes so far IMHO. I have worked on a few 6.0 fords and they will always give trouble rather it be injectors,hpop,oil cooler,head gaskets,ficm,etc. The only people who brag on them are die hard ford fans. I'm a 5.9 cummins fan for there simplicity and reliability I'm however not a huge fan of the dodge it's wrapped around but will always own one as long as it's cummins powered.

I'm a Chevy man but think Fords are the best looking truck out there. Really like everything about the new Fords except the cost. They are proud of them. I have zero problems with the Duramax/Allison combo. Tows my 20k Teton well.

They do look great. I've got a real soft spot for the 08-10 6.4 powered trucks just can't convince myself to buy something I Know I will have to work on. Friend of mine has a 2013 f250 king ranch with the 6.7. I love the interior and how good it rides and drives. The new dodge longhorn trucks look awesome also.

I couldn't swing a new one either and purchased our '09 F350 when it was two years old as I knew the gentleman that ordered it new. It had 39K on it and I've got 56k on it now. It was bought to do a job....pull our 5th wheel, and it's not a daily driver. Fuel mileage is not as good as the others claim, but ours is stock. I've got all the parts to delete the DPF but was waiting for warranty to expire, it finally went out last summer, and I still haven't deleted it yet. We ave around 15.5 mpg empty and 8-9 towing. We started with a small '91 Excel, then a 2008 Copper Canyon bunkhouse, and now a '04 DRV Mobile Suites. We have only pulled the Suites home from NE, but the truck handles it beautifully, and made the same mileage as pulling our 2 previous coaches that were lighter and shorter height. My parents ordered a 2011 F350 6.7 new and pulled an Alpenlite and now a Montana Mountaineer. They consistently see 1-2 mpg better than I do empty or loaded. If I had the cash, that's the route I would have gone. The new 6.7 Ford is a nice engine, it's quite, smooth, and just flat out pulls better than my 6.4, and makes better mileage. That said I am happy with the 6.4, and live with the poorer mileage because of it's limited use. At 39, I don't want a truck payment, and we don't drive it enough to recoup our investment on better fuel mileage. The only issue we had with the truck was an oil leak that was so minor, it didn't even spot the garage floor. My dealer wanted to fix it under warranty, so we had that done. Yes they do pull the cab for most repairs, but they seem to have that down to a science, and I haven't had any issues because of them doing so. Prior to the 2011 F350, my parents had a 2002 F250 7.3, and a 2006 6.0. All trucks were ordered new, and never in the shop.

Saw a 2007 go for $23000 on EBay they can't be that bad. My 2005 at $20000 almost 8 years ago is still worth over $12000 to me. It's a keeper for me.

Do your self a favor test drive a LongHorn. Our Die hard KingRanch friends could not stop commenting on the ride and the quality of the interior.
