My 2005 GMC 2500HD 4X4 D/A has a door sticker that states: "The combined weight of occupants and cargo should not exceed 2484 lbs.". My Monty has an empty pin weight of 2225 lbs. So I figure that by adding passengers, hitch, additional AC unit in the 5er bedroom plus cargo, I have been hauling a minimum of 3200 lbs (realistically more like 3500). It usually pulls quite nicely until I hit a bridge expansion joint on the Interstate while going 65mph. Then I feel a very uncomfortable bounce as the springs bottom out on my truck. Everyone needs to do what they think is right (that's what's great about our country). However for me, I believe that I may be putting my equipment, my family and others in jeopardy by traveling with my current truck/5er combination. Which makes me wish that I had done more research before purchasing.
