2009 Jeep Wrangler Smell

Towed my Jeep to Yellow Stone in July, which was a three day trip from home and when we started it for the first time there was a strong smell of burning rubber. Just not sure what caused it. After about 30 mins of running the smell went away. There was no other sign of any kind of trouble and Jeep ran like a top. Happened again after a short trip from home over to the coast.
Has anyone else had this happen?
Thanks in advance for any information?

Get used to it. The rubber and other road junk kicked up by your motor home. When you fire up your toad it starts burning off your exhaust system and thus burnt rubber smell. I posted the same question earlier this year after my first long tow of my Murano with my Excursion.

It goes away after a while

I have towed 4 different jeep grand cherokee over 80,000 miles and they always have that smell. Usually goes away after a few minutes. Like jondrew said it just road gunk burning off. Nothing to worry about.

Yup, what they said. Normal. No worries.
