2012 Ram Integrated Brake Controller HELP

New to me 2012 3500 Ram. Towed my 20' equipment/hay trailer today, brakes on 1 axle. Plugged in 7 way plug and everything worked. Had lights and brakes. Driving down the road I heard a chime, red trailer with slash through it in place where door ajar light normally is. In addition, yellow trailer with ! behind it on the controller face. Controller face showed gain setting, brakes still worked. Light would go off and then I would hear chime and lights reappeared. Happened over and over.

Got out owner manual, but neither symbol shown anywhere in manual. Any idea?

Not a Ram owner but I remember reading that there was something different about the brake controller on the newer Rams.

It was on this forum about a year ago I think.

I believe there are two settings on the new Ram controllers if I remember correctly. One is light braking and the other is heavy duty. Since you only have one axle and brake system on the trailer try the light duty.

Also where there any DTC codes that you notice?

I would also check out Turbo Diesel Register .com the users on that site might be able to answer you better in the Towing thread. Here is the link:
http://www.turbodieselregister.com/

This is dedicated to us RAM owners and is an excellent site.

Looked closer at my 2014 on the screen under settings mine has options for light electric. .heavy electric. ...light E /H....and heavy E/H.....it also has an option to set the truck up for 5 different trailers....

It's a 2014 ram 3500 drw crew cab aisen tranny and 4:10's tradesman

Check under the settings screen and see what you can find

Sounds like you just have a lose connection. My 2012 only does this when I disconnect the trailer.

Sounds like a loose connection or bad wires on the trailer.
