More informations is needed, but my gut says no. Here is a recent very similar thread... http://www.irv2.com/forums/f45/1500-...vw-378110.html
Here is a great video explaining how you find out for yourself if the numbers will work... https://youtu.be/qwFLOBrADBs

Depends on how the truck is equipped. If it has the 3.73 axle ratio and towing package, then yes. My last 1/2 truck was the 5.3l and 3.73 ratio and I towed a fifth wheel that weighed 6550 lbs for a number of years and many miles. But that was a 2000 model year vehicle with 4 speed auto and trucks have improved a lot since then.
But for anyone towing a TT, I would say you need the best anti sway hitch available and that would be either the Hensley Arrow or ProPride. Not cheap, but better than an accident. Sometimes you can find a used one to save some $$.

I have a similar truck, a 2017 gmc 1500 with the 5.3 and 3.42 gears but my trailer is 4700# and 500# hitch wt. per the mfr. and my truck pulls it ok on the flats but it struggles on hills and by the mfr. numbers my trailer is lighter than yours. I would say you would be able to tow it but your truck will struggle. the 3.73 gears help but the trailer will be quite a load for that truck

You might hit the numbers but it wouldn’t be fun, or maybe even safe. Jmo

Depends on your trucks configuration, but if you are really carrying over 2000lbs of weight that's not something I want to tow very far.

I personally would tow this all day long, but one shoe doesn't fit all. Some make fun of the 5.3 but I sat in the backseat of a 65 Ford 500 towing a Shasta screaming up the grapevine, it lasted for years.
I don't carry water and our cargo load is exactly 883lbs. We usually travel to a couple different lakes with full hookups, one 25 miles and another 47 miles away. Would I travel around the country pulling this, heck no! Would I take an occasional longer trip, sure as long as weight was within specs. I have this motor and this is just about the biggest heaviest you can go. Now if you have the big 6.2, 3.73 with heavy tow go for it, no problem.
Find out what your numbers are, stay under them and don't exceed your comfort level. I drove big rigs of all types for a living, so I may be a little more comfortable towing what my truck is rated at. Some here seem to be compensating. 🤣

Throw out the dry weights. What are the real weights you'll be towing and will they be within specs for your truck?

You are over the max that I would I would tow with a 1/2 ton truck. If you were my brother I would recommend a bigger truck.
Now, are you going to stay local and camp at the local state parks within a 50 mile radius? Or, you going to go coast to coast? You are ok to camp local. Not ok to get on a freeway and pull to either coast...unless the Gulf coast.

If this is a couples RV you can probably get by. Don't be tempted to load down the truck bed just because it's empty. If camping with kids will be getting a little dicey. Either way pulling higher grades will be a challenge. My other concern would be side wind load with a shorter softer suspension truck.

I have a 15 chevy and pull a 32 ft camper with the equalizer 4 pt and it does ok if it's not windy but on windy days I will feel the push from big trucks. It does downshift when going uphill but keeps up the speed. I tow between 62 and 65 mph. We are trading it in on a 28 ft Imagine camper so it will be easier to pull and park in the campgrounds because some spots are too short for a big camper.
