I'd have to look again, as I didn't want to be tempted into getting a 2016 so I stopped looking at them, but I'm pretty sure the 2016 has a bigger axle and some other minor improvements to handle the 900. I thought I read somewhere that they also have a CP4 injection pump, and the jury is still out on those.
The ONLY performance related difference between the 15 and 16 RAM's is the tweak in programming. Same axle and all.

NO the CP3 is and will be the pump of choice for the Cummins as it is the most dependable by far as the GM and Ford both have the CP4. Ford chooses not to cover many pump issues under warranty, GM has been stepping up to the plate.

I am in the process of working my way from SoCal to Elkhart, IN for a trip to MorRyde and DRV. Once I went into New Mexico I said screw the fuel cost and drove 75 across the state and into Texas. Calm winds towing 32,500# I am hand calcing 7.4 average. Typically I average 9 @ 60.

I am passing every semi on the grades at 75 and down to 70 in 5th gear. The engine temps are easily maintained and the trans is 167 at the MAX.

A quick internet search is coming up with several sources talking about differences in the rear axle. But you used caps, so I guess that means you're right...

"The power bump comes courtesy of adjustments to fuel delivery and turbocharger boost."

From TRL Truck ^^^^^^^

Maybe post a link to rear axle difference? The 4.10 in the 13 and newer is bigger than the 3.73 and 3.42.

FYI I was NOT being a know it all, just stating what I think is correct. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Ram Truck Unveils 900 lb-ft of Torque for 2016 Cummins 6.7L Engine

Ram had to make some changes to the rear axle of the 2016 3500 to meet the new demands. The 11.8-inch AAM rear axle now features 16 ring gear bolts instead of 12. The differential case was also upgraded with stronger material.

I didn't really think it necessary to post a link, as my fairly-limited internet prowess was able to find the information easily. I didn't look into the CP3 vs CP4 though, hopefully you're right on that one for the reasons you mentioned with the CP4. Really sucks to think about getting stuck with a five-figure repair bill due to faulty engineering.

My understanding is that Ram upgraded the axle a bit for reliability purposes with the extra torque.

But I don't trust their engines. The guy over at powerstrokehelp.com says ford builds them to fail around 120k-150k miles. I asked a coworker of mine, a former ford mechanic, and he said it was true. At least prior to 2011 when he did work there. Perhaps their new engine is better.
But really there's just no beating a cummins for reliability.
Not sure what you are referring to with a "weird bounce" in the Chevys. Our 2015 Chevy dually rides great and none of the TFLtruck videos that I have seen talk about it. The Duramax/Allison combination does a great job along with a superior exhaust brake. In fact the Chevy beat the Ram up the hill with the same load in the 2016 Ike Gauntlet (no Ford in the test). BTW, it is horsepower that gets you up a long hill not the torque.

TFLtruck is a great way to spend hours of information gathering. They do get a bit long winded as they try to strong out the time....IMHO.

You can see a porposing effect on the Chevy's that's not on other trucks. They've mentioned it a few times. And the camera on the hitch shows it.
I wouldn't say the duramax has a superior exhaust brake. They just had the rams in the wrong mode and it was brought up many times in the comments. Though I've heard the Chevy has better grade shifting. The Chevy also has super small push rods compared to Ford and ram. Like half the size. I don't know what that means. I just found it interesting.

Thanks, I do remember that now! The engine was just tuning.

The Cummins for sure has the CP3 pump.

JBurg I researched also and all I could find was what I posted, thanks for questioning me!!!

Agreed on the CP3... that was one of the major decision points for me choosing the cummins over the duramax.

All three will do a good job. Wouldn't put one above the other. I'm not prejudice since I have neither. Dodge and Ford offer MDTs Chevy don't. Dodge has factory option air ride. Pick the one that strikes your fancy and buy it.
