Exactly what Timon said. Ford used the term "re-invested" when referring to the weight savings on the SD's. The boxed frame and enhanced suspension/running gear ate up more than half the weight savings.

I wonder if the folks at Ford have finally figured out how to design a door so that when you drive through mud, the mud isn't stuck to the weatherstripping on the bottom of the door. And then the weatherstripping is torn off when the mud freezes and you need to exit the vehicle. Number one thing I hated about my (company supplied) 04, 06, 08, and (company and personal) 11 Ford Super Duty right there. The 09 F-150 didn't do that though...

Since the 2017 SuperDuty and the F150 will share the same cab - looks like they will both have similar traits...
I never had the mud or ice problems on my last SuperDuty though..

Really? I suppose I put a ton of oilfield miles on those trucks so myself and everyone else that had one got to experience this phenomenon I mentioned. Very common to see the weatherstripping hanging out the bottom of the door of those trucks when they see a lot of mud.

In my travels through the frozen winter states, I now recall seeing many trucks with this weatherstripping or whatever it is torn, broken, and hanging down from the bottom of the door. I guess I always kinda wondered about that.

I'm in the northeast with all kinds of ice and snow. Use my truck to pull my sled trailer all over Maine all winter long. My weather stripping looks like the day I bought the truck in 2012. The pic below is the usual... I'm thinking I must have ordered the "HD" weather stripping....

I too , have never had this issue and I live in Calgary hauling quads out in the mud all the time. Also deal with 40 below in the winter. Must be Canadian weather stripping

Canadian mud just isn't as strong as the mud in the US

One thing I can't believe is the amount of fiat/ Chrysler trucks on the side of the road with their driveshaft laying on the ground.

I've had weatherstripping stick but mostly up at the top and from freezing rain more than anything. Now part of my winterizing routine is to clean all the gaskets and seals, then wipe them down with Armor-All or Son-of-a-Gun.. Then a wipe of the body with a little petroleum jelly (Vaseline) and wiping off the residue. No more sticking even in freezing rain.
You may want to try this on the bottom gaskets that you're having troubles with..

You didn't order the Jackhammering Weatherstripping kit....that's why you didn't have the problem.
