2017 Ram 3500 6.7 Cummins Recall

I don't know if anybody else here got this mail yet from Ram.

It is for a recall for a possible fire in the engine compartment because of a water pump problem. It may fail without any warning and could cause an engine fire

They have no cure for it at this time.

I don't know if this is for any other 2017 Ram Cummins models or not.

Recall: T51/NHTSA 17V-562

Not sure where you read no remedy. Found this on the official recall itself

Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall to replace water pumps with
new water pumps with corrective features including a vent hole.
FCA US has a longstanding policy and practice of reimbursing owners who
have incurred the cost of repairing a problem that subsequently becomes
the subject of a field action. To ensure consistency, FCA US, as part of the
owner letter, will request that customers send the original receipt and/or
other adequate proof of payment to the company for confirmation of the
expense.
How Remedy Component Differs
from Recalled Component :
Part Name: Water Pump
Part Description: Water pump
Part Number: 68210961AA
Comment: Remedy component is distinguished by implementation of
water pump vent hole
Identify How/When Recall Condition
was Corrected in Production :

The no resolution was in my letter from Ram that I just received from them today. It just shows how much there are on it.

Get the letter today and they already have a cure and still tell you they don't.

Got my letter yesterday. Mine also said they had no current remedy and I would be contacted when a fix was in place. I'm betting what it is, is that Dodge doesn't have enough replacement water pumps on hand to cover the recalls and as they are able to obtain them, more of us will get the letters saying contact your local dealer to set up the service to fix the issue.

Got mine for my 2015 a few days ago. It was headed back to the shop anyway following issues from my last toad trip. CEL for SCR, which coincidentally I received a recall notice for while I was gone. Brake light inop indication issues, wheel speed sensor fault code and light, need transmission and brake controller reprogrammed as I’m told they have fixes for the issues I’m having with those now. This truck has been good job security for my dealers maintenance folks.

Got mine a few days ago, same "no fix yet" clause in it as well, guess I'll just keep on keeping on and hope for the best.

Angry Water pump recall

Got the recall letter about two weeks ago. Was due for oil and filters plus emissions recall from June. Dealer says "nothing we can do at this time. FCA is still evaluating how to handle it. You'll get another letter when they decide. May be a year from now. May be next month. We don't know for sure". Kinda disappointing as we will be pulling to Fl soon. Would just as soon not be broke down on I-75.

Got the same letter as Rainman did and I'm sure the rest got the same letter. No remedy at this time. I guess if the truck catches fire, I get a new truck.

Stopped by my local dealership, asked about the "remedy". They said bout what I thought, not enough water pumps to go around, may hear something this spring. I'm with Corky1009, got two trips to FL lined up over the winter, guess the water pump issue will give me something to worry about for the hours long ride down and back.

I wouldn't be too worried. Just got done with a 10k mile tow with 15k 5th wheel. Not one hiccup. But who's to say it won't blow up going to Wal-Mart tomorrow.
