2019 Ram 1500 swept the awards for best full-size pickup - But...

Quote From Article:
Are ya chicken, pardner?

That’s the question some Texas auto writers were asking about the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado after America’s No. 1 and 2 bestselling vehicles skipped the annual Texas Truck Rodeo.

what? no J.D. Powers award? J.D. hands out awards for absolutely no reason. Totally worthless award?

But Texas writers award? No one ever heard of it? no wonder Ford and Chevy blew it off

texas is one of the largest markets for truck sales. ford and gm probably blew it off because their new models arent really very different from last year's and with all the changes to the new ram truck, ram has been garnering more attention from the auto/truck media. I was truck shopping back in august and looked over all the new offerings very thoroughly.

Good point runamuck. 2018 F150 won last years award from this group.

Why would anyone give flack for calling out Dodge? They are great trucks. Don't worry, we all know you are a die hard Ford guy and no one's picking on your Ford here.

In previous posts you like to compare trucks that are driven 100k miles a year in work environments. Many RV'ers are buying a truck to tow recreationally. And many, like me, will replace our trucks every 5 to 6 years. My current 2014 that I bought new in November 2014 just rolled over 25k miles. She is babied, washed and waxed and just a pretty truck that hauls my 5th like a beast. That is my truck's only job.

Ram, Ford and Chevy are all great trucks. Pick your flavor and go camping.

Calling Ram trucks Dodges is like trying to ignore the blunder of the 6.0 Powerjoke.
Just speculating here but I would venture to guess that most PS repairs were way more $$$ than the average Dodge repair in 2003-2009. I seem to have trouble finding loads of info on bullet prroofing a 5.9-6.7 Cummins.

I have owned Vans all my driving life. Fords and Chevy. I really liked the Chevy G2500.

BUT:

Back in '94, I bought a Dodge Van with a 7yr, 70,000-mile warranty. at 32,000 miles they replaced all the valves. That should have been my first clue, at 45000 miles the rocker panels were rusted through, at 72,000 miles the engine scattered. They "rebuilt" the engine for free, but "free" cost me close to $6000 in rentals vehicles and other BS from dodge. after two months of being in the shop they gave it back and at the first red light I came to, I could hear that tell tail ticking of a valve or bearing. Within 30 minutes I was at the Chevy dealer getting a new 2000 Chevy G2500

The Chevy went 235,000 with no issues, Now I have Ford, which just got sideswiped by a Toyota Scion (that cube thing) my running boards took the brunt of the swipe, and the cargo doors are caved in a little, but they took her car away on a flat bed because my van ripped the entire front of her car off, Im still driving my Ford. Built tough.. yep

I HATE DODGE WITH A PASSION

I dont really have a comment here but if ford had put kitty power in their trucks no one else would have even needed to bother making trucks. I dont even like the cummins motors. 6.7 through 15 liter theyre underpowered dogs.

How much is a built 48re anyway? As much as bulletproofing a 6.0 anyway.

How can any 1500 be a “full size” pickup? I see them as “small size”.
I think it’s about what can pull/haul/tow that folks really need

2019 is not 1994, and despite putting out Navistar's poorly designed 6.0 and 6.4 engines, Ford has outsold GM and Dodge/Ram pickups in diesel light duty trucks year after year combined.

I drove past a diesel shop yesterday that had at least 40 Dodge/Ram pickups there waiting for repairs. The common problem? Transmissions.

2019 is going to be a great year to buy a pickup as all manufacturers are expected to throw around big incentives to move'em. And the Ram and GM pickups will be a completely new generation of body--but with the same basic engines. They aren't going to mess with engineering too much in a completely new truck. Hybrids are coming throughout the auto industry in the very near future--nothing wrong with that.

I've always been a Ford truck owner with my last of the 7.3 F250 truck. It's expected to wear out when I'm 93 years old. But I wouldn't be hesitant to buy any of the new offerings from Ford/Ram/Chevy-GMC. They're all great vehicles for every day driving and light towing.

Just curious how you know all 40 trucks waiting for service had transmission issues just by driving by?

Not heard of any Ram transmission problems in recent year models. Perhaps you are referring to earlier model years?
