But i'm sure the door sticker says something like people, cargo, etc. must all be deducted from the payload.

My door sticker says that as well. But the PDF from ram on towing numbers says:
"Trailer Weight Rating and Tow Vehicle Trailering Weight are calculated as specified in SAE J2807. Passenger Weight = 300 lb
Options Weight = 100 lb
Trailering Equipment Weight: 75 lb for Conventional Hitch, 70 lb for Gooseneck and 250 lb for 5th Wheel."

So this leads to be believe the numbers given by ram already include those values. Which in my case is 475lbs. I was going to deduct 700lbs for people, hitch and gear but since they posted numbers accounting for 475lbs worth of stuff I only need to deduct the difference? Another 225lbs instead of the full 700lbs? It is rather confusing. I've been deducting the full amount just to be safe.

Ford sticker says “the combined weights of occupants and cargo should never exceed xxxx”. Imho that would lead one to think gas is already factored in.

I would think that's a safe assumption.

But still the discrepancy. Door sticker says deduct occupants and ford brochure says the payload number already accounts for a 150lb driver. So which is correct? I'd go with the door sticker to be safe but ultimately only ford can answer that.

Which is why I called Ford. I honestly hung up not knowing the answer. I asked my salesman and he said gas weight comes off the xxxx.

I know if that 250# matters so much then it’s too close. Kinda just want to know for sure now.

250 lbs. isn't going to matter with a 3/4 or one ton truck. Given the overall weight of the rig, it's a drop in the bucket.
The weight police have gotten all you poor guys freaked out.

If that trailer's loaded your pin weight is at minimum 2000#! I don't trust the door sticker. On my old truck, '11 f150, it was 450 less than the sticker payload of 1798 after I weighed it. Before I bought my dually, the dealer let me take it to a scale and it was 200# less than the sticker payload of 5850 which I was ok with! Before I bought the dually I figured 22% of the fifth wheels GVWR that I wanted and added another 1000# for safety and looked for a big payload capacity. My pin weight ended up at 22% or 4000#!
