5th Wheel Hitch Lock
Just got my B&W Patriot Hitch... Man that thing is substantial and well built!
Curious, what are you all doing to prevent hitch theft? Eventually I plan to get a tonneau cover, but in the mean time I was thinking of maybe a cable or some type of locking pin???

Locking Pin
I am using a locking pin. I also remove it if I am not using it for long periods of time.

I do not worry about someone stealing my hitch. I think they would truck before they would steal just your hitch!
I have been towing a 5er since 2007 and no one has every messed with my hitch in the truck.

We put a king pin lock on the 5er.

My hitch weights over 700 pounds. Don't believe any one will mess with it. Also we have full timed for over 7 years and never had anything stolen.

I have heard about more 5ers and TT stolen than hitches.
Well I did hear about one stolen hitch but they took the truck and trailer at the same time! Family was loaded up to leave on vacation the next morning. Next morning entire rig was gone.

I have a Bakflip F1 folding tonneau cover. Keeps the hitch out of the weather and gives the truck a sleek look. Of course, the cover costs almost as much as the hitch, so if you're using it simply as theft deterrent the cost may not be worth it.

I've never locked my hitch in the bed. It stays in there most of the time but occasionally I take it out. It's not easy to store. Nobody that I'm aware of has every messed with it. With my 3500, you can't see in the bed without a good size hop. I would be more concerned about someone playing and pulling the handle when we stop for a break. Just add a padlock and this eliminates that. As said, it's more likely that the tailgate or the whole truck will be stolen first.
FYI. Add a simple hose clamp over the hinge side that lifts off of the tailgate and it won't be stolen. People want a snatch and run tailgate. Not one that they have to take 15 minutes to fiddle with a hose clamp.

That's cool. never seen one before. Of course I've never looked for one before. I got plenty of hose clamps laying around.
