6.2 owners...??
I have a 15' f250 6.2 towing 3350BH Passport (~#7500loaded) ... pulls it just fine - just arrived In Dandridge Tn. from Cincy and have ZERO complaints (beside 8mpg, but I'm ok with that).
Want to upgrade to 308Bhs 5th wheel but nervous as once it's loaded I'll be approx 11k .... it will pull it but how much of a difference compared to now?!? 37'/7500lb TT vs. 35'/11000lb 5'er
I do too many short trips to jump all in on a diesel ... feel a gassed better serves my daily life at this moment -- if I NEED to upgrade truck just to get 5r, I'll prob stag with what I got .. thanks

Just my opinion ,but I think you would be asking a lot out of that truck. What is the pin weight on the fifth wheel . I am pulling a heavier ,shorter trailer than you with my 6.2 and it does the job ,but i don't think I would want to go a lot bigger. You are looking at another 3500 lbs which will make a lot of difference. Check your weights , you may not have the capacity with the f250 . Like I said this is just my opinion .

I'd definitely want 4.30 gears for that weight.

I'm your twin brother but in a Ram - 3.73 gears. TT I had was about 8500# loaded and I moved up to an 11,000# loaded 5th wheel. I get by but it's about the max this truck can handle. Honestly, the biggest problem is the crappy gear ratios with the tranny. Your Ford tranny is likely better designed and if you have the 4.30 gears it would really be ideal.
Of course, a gasser is no diesel but the 6.2 is a nice engine. Something I really appreciate is how well the cab on my 2014 Ram is insulated compared to older trucks. Even with the motor up at 4000rpm+ it's really not that loud. Nothing like trucks of 15-20 years ago.
I don't tow that often and if I did I'd swap for a diesel. For the 10 or so small-ish trips I take a year I get by. I could afford the upgrade but it's not necessary. I never feel unsafe or under powered. Also worth mentioning I'm out west and have pulled some decent passes and can maintain speed (passing the class As and semis in the slow lane).

You won't be the fastest horse but you'll still get there. Do you have 3.73 gears?

I have a 17 F250 SCLB XLT with 4.30. It is a terrific truck. My brother total towed weight bot trailer and passengers and supplies is approx 8500. No problems and rarely get lower than 4th and any higher than 3500 rpm.
Just crossed the Cascade range and it was like I was on the flats. The salesman said all I needed was the stock 3.73. He admitted he never owned a truck and never towed anything. No wonder he was able to come up with such intelligent info. Don't listen to the salesman for advice, they want a sale.
The mileage with the 4.30 is better around town unloaded and better when towing, the downside is unloaded freeway cruising. I am turning 1900 rpm at 60 mph.
Personally I could care less about mileage. I have nothing against diesels but I don't like the smell, don't like the maintenance or repairs that seem to be higher. My brother has a 350 SCLB dually and a 41 foot 5 th wheel. He needs it. I will stay with something smaller so I don't need one. It's not a sacrifice.

I'm towing 10k with my 2013 F350 3.73 gears 6.2
Have a 5 star tuner on it and air bags
The only way I would buy a diesel again is if I went over 15k
Gas is so much cheaper the extra diesel expense is not worth it in my opinion
I do need to change out my shocks I have noticed the bounce has gotten worse this year 52k on the truck

Awesome..... I'm leaning towards keeping the Truck & buying a keystone Hideout 308bhs -- I'll do 2-3 trips a year where a diesel would be nice, but not worth it
