Found a 2002 Burb with the 8.1L. Leather, sunroom, DVD, heavy duty tranny and the they only want $8,000....wants to buy something else. It only has 102,000 and was thinking about buying it for pulling the camper for the short trips we do all during the summer, or even a few longer ones. Crew cab isn't an option, to many kids. Any thoughts on this vehicle? Trailer we pull is right at 4,800 lbs. Overkill? Should I look for a 6L. Not sure. An idea appreciated.

By the time you load up kids, gear, and trailer that 8.1 will be perfect.

That engine is a real beast and will tow to beat all. But don't expect double digit MPG - even light. Did the previous owner use it for towing? As far as the price goes, it sounds fair I traded my 99 Tahoe in 07 with 75k mi and got 9000 from the dealer - who probably turned it for 10 or 11K.
