I'm till looking for a TV while the Jayco Jay Feather 29N is being built. I am down to a Chevy Silverad 6.0L, but what about the Titan 5.6L? Any good?

While the Titan is a great truck, I think you will be at or over it's limits once the truck and trailer are loaded. In my honest opinion, you need to be looking at 3/4 ton trucks for a trailer of the size you have on order.

Yea, you can tow with the 6.0L but be sure you get a 2500HD for the load. The Jayco might be lighter than my older Holiday Rambler, but I sure would want to tow a trailer that large with anything less than a 3/4 ton

I have also looked at both the Tundra and Titan, they are both stout trucks and have V8s that break the 300HP mark. They compete with the rest of the 1/2 ton trucks - F150 and Silverado 1500 and Ram 1500. The big three offer more combinations of beds and cabs etc. All of them have about the same WB, Length and Width. The Titan does have a 5 speed auto, not sure what Toyota will have. Chevy has a 4 speed auto in the 1/2T and a new 6speed in the 3/4T I think what it comes down to is how long you intend to keep your TV. While 1/2 T rigs can and will tow 6000+ lb TTs, they probably won't last as long as a 3/4T doing it.

Agreed. Any 1/2 ton should "manage" BARELY. The problem is that you may not be able to manage the load in a critical situation with a 1/2 ton. You will be at or probably beyond the design limits of a 1/2 ton.

A 3/4 ton may seem extreme, but wisdom has spoken prior to this entry. Your best bet is to listen to wisdom.

Here's the deal with towing with a Titan. I've done it, and I towed a 8500K 25'long Toyhauler.
It did the job just fine, and I'd put it along side any 1/2 ton out there. Mine was rated at 9500# tow cap. And had the full tow package. It could handle what I was puliing no problem up any hill, but at a price, "GAS MILEAGE" sucked, 7mpg at a max. That hurt.
While I think the Titan can handle mostly any 6000lb to 8000 lbs trailers, I think the length of a longer trailer will hurt, 29' is a little long for the wheel base on the Titan, you'll get alot of bow wake sway for sure.
I have since changed up to a Dodge 3500 CTD, Not because the Titan did'nt do the job, just planning on a new larger trailer.

What juzplanekrazy said - I went from a 1/2 Ton Chevy with a 26' 5th wheel to a 29' 5th Wheel and then traded the 1/2 Ton Chevy for a 3/4 Ton Dodge diesel, and then traded the 29' 5th wheel for a 31' 5th wheel. Still drive 3/4 Ton Dodge diesel.

You will trade up at some point in time.

WEll, last week I picked up a 2007 Silverado2500HD 6.0L 4.10 rear Crew Car, that should do it.............

I think you'll do fine with the 2500. It is hard to have too much tow vehicle.

Thanks, I do like that Chevy...It was down to a Ford or Chevy and the 5yr. warrenty won me over..BTW, I am joining the Texas Boomers, they look like a fun bunch..

Jim - congrats on the new rig - you should not have any problems towing your TT. I am waiting for the new generation Chevy trucks (I know I will have to pay more) but it will be interesting to compare notes next summer
