Do you have a link of some kind to "active suspension"?

The only active suspension I can think of is to remove all leaf/coil springs, and add air bags only?

I believe he is referring to the Roadmaster Active Suspension--
Roadmaster Active Suspension Kits | Helper Springs | Overload Springs
I recently was interested in this to get rid of the Timbrens on my F450--after being assured by the mfg that it would fit, and after several hours of the alignment shop trying to get it on, it turns out it will not fit an F450, at least not my '09. So I actually can't report on how it works. The shop I was using had installed several of the systems on lighter trucks and said the customers were happy with it, just could not get it to work with the diameter of the spring eyes on my truck.
What truck are you thinking to use it on?
Joe

Sonny, check out Kelderman Air suspension. It replaces the leaf and coil springs with industrial quality air bags and on board air. Very highly acclaimed. I'm doing their front and rear on my next truck...

I think there might be about $3000 difference in the cost of those two systems...

Well, I have enough truck, was just trying to soften the ride somewhat.

I would think this would stiffen the ride?

Not compared to bottoming out on Timbrens.
Not sure I believe all the ad says, but have used air bags and Timbrens and was still looking for that "luxury ride in a 450..." HaHa. I can handle the stiff ride when unloaded, but still looking for something better when loaded. My wife has back problems, and really trying to find someway to soften the rear ride when loaded.
I have seen several reports on the Kelderman installs that did not deliver the promise, either, but there are some good reports also. Not willing to spend several grand on it.
Joe
