Wondering if anyone was running an incresed capacity aftermarket transmission pan. I had a rebuild at 30,000 mi back and would have looked then but did not think about it and the AMSOL fluid is a $100 bill. Its time now to change. PML offers a cast aluminum pan with 3.5 QT cap above stock with cooling fins and an area to bore for temp sender.I like the extra cap & sender in the pan and when you pull heavy every little bit helps. Any thoughts and is it $250 well spent. Also any thoughts on Royal Purple VS Amsol.Keep the dust on your boot. BKF

Some of the best money I ever spent. I have a Magtech deep pan on my 97 ford 1 ton. It doubles the amount of fluid capacity.IMHO more fluid=more time to cool off+more time for any contaminants to settle to the bottom before the fluid has to go back to work. Yes it does make fluid changes more expensive,30 quarts, but well worth the money and piece of mind

I think the better ones have fins inside as well as outside. Don't let the drain plug make you complacent and not change the filter. That's why mfg. quit putting drain plugs. people were draining fluids without changing filters.

My opinion--> a good cooler and a temp gauge is really all you need. You can control the temps in a trans just by not pushing it as hard up a hill. Just seeing the temp will surprise you.

Thank you for your reply guy's. I ordered my pan last night with a temp sender bore so I can move my sender to the pan. I have my trans heat sender mounted inline prior to the cooler and very seldom see temps above 160/175 unless in reverse. Think it will be interesting to see the difference.Keep the dust on your boot.
