Air Lift 1000 Install
Hello All
Decided to but the Air Lift 1000's on my 2013 Ram 5.7 ( Not on the buyback )
Hoped to do the install tomorrow if weather permits. Have heard great reviews for such a simple system, and just want to reduce the little bit of swat i get , even with my WDH, getting older and pryin those bars up isn't getting any easier. UPS just dropped them off and here's a few pic. truck/trailer before and the kit.
This will be an on going post, so bear with me. Hope this helps others !!!

Not sure about the airlift 1000 kit but I installed the airlift 5000 kit on my truck and it's awesome. I bet it will make a huge difference in how well your truck tows.

We will see !! I like things simple, and don't mind adding the air manually before we tow. So at $87 at Amazon, if it preforms as i have heard, best money i have spent. Plus Air Lift has 60 day if not happy , full return policy.
Will see how the install goes ??? Heck if a 62 year old gizzer can do it. Will post pics as it goes.
Jim
But i'm good with a wrench !!!!!

Sounds like you're an old wrench like me, you won't have any trouble.

No problem!
I would start out with 10psi and experiment from there.

Is it ok to lubricate the bag and inner coil spring to help insertion of the bag, silicone, soapiy water, etc. ??

Ride,
I wish you well. Have a similar size trailer, Propride hitch. Had a Ram 1500. Got lots of squat with WD fully engaged, and significant chucking. Installed Timbrens with minimal to no improvement in ride quality. Installed Airlift 1000 again with minimal improvement.
Came to the realization that I need more "cushion" between TT weight and TV capabilities, so moved to F250 diesel.
My conclusions are that the Ram 1500 rear coil springs are a horrible idea for towing TTs, and that the 5.7 L Hemi was outmatched with the 7,000 lb TT.
The Airlifts were easy to install, definitely helped level out the TV, but just didn't solve my problem. Just make sure to cut the airlines square and push all the way onto the barbed connectors, and make sure the Schrader valve is tight in the valve stem.
Only one perspective, and only valid if you have the same tolerance for towing characteristics, which is a very individual thing.
Best wishes,
Brian

Soapy water would be a perfect lubricant. May I also suggest you leave the bags laying in the sun for awhile. This will help to soften up the material a bit and make the bags more pliable.

Thanks, but hope your wrong in my case. I can get most of the squat out if a 'REALLY" crank up on the WDH, but, too much effort for my physical condition,so hoping the 1000's do the trick. My TT is 5700 dry and tows great, so we will see. When done, will post pics and results .

If it takes you longer than 30 mins.. you're drinking too much beer between bags.
It does help a LOT. I put about 30 psi in before hooking up the boat. It's about 7500# loaded/wet. Tongue weight of 650 ish. This wasn't the most level spot to take a picture, but it's all I have w/ me.
I also have 2-1/2" risers in the front. I didn't care for the "nose down" look.
