All new Heavy Duty Trucks as 2020 models
I knew that both Ram and Ford will have new gas motors in the 7 litre range but just learned today that Chevy will also have a new gas motor to replace the 6.0 litre. No size numbers on the Chevy yet.
The pics that I saw of the Chevy, I think looks good. I saw this on TFL. Chevy says there will be a significant increase in towing capability with a 10 speed Allison.
Yes, TFL is reporting a 10 speed Allison.
Anyway - all new heavy duty Chevy, Ram and Ford in 6 - 12 months!!!.
IMHO - these new trucks will really be something.

I know Chevy has a new 6.6 GAS motor coming out with 400hp/450ftq but was unaware they would phase out the 6.0. Makes sense though as the 6.0 is not set up for 4cyl operation and the new 6.6 will have exactly that.
Will also be a great upgrade with the availability of the Ally tranny as well.

That new 2020 Chevy is simply the ugliest truck I have ever seen. The designer should be fired.

I was thinking the diesel engine were getting way to far ahead of the gasoline engines. They are still way ahead but this next batch of gas engines should close that gap some.
I had a 2012 truck with a diesel engine. I would buy another one if the gas engine will not do the job.

Forgot to mention that the new heavy duty Chevy is targetted to be available this summer. No release date on the Ram or Ford just yet.

There seems to be some agreement with that sentiment.....
Trucks in 2018 look horrifying

I think just the grill is ugly but the truck as a whole has a big(ness) to it. It looks higher than the 2019 truck. That will not make it easy to tow a 5th wheel.
Higher trucks - ugh. A long time ago I remember being about to reach into the bed of a truck to get a block of wood or a tool. Now, not only can I not reach into the truck bed I can not even easily see into the truck bed.
I would bet that the 2020 Ford and 2020 Ram will also be higher...ugh.

That new chevy is U.G.L.Y. !
So are the new Fords. What's with the c-clamp/parenthesis DRLs?
The Ram is the prettiest relatively speaking.
What is TFL?

TFL is a YouTube channel also known as Fast Lane Trucks. I have been watching them for that last few years. I like most of the team but two guys I do not like. Oh well, I watch anyway. I love the Russian dude. He is very into trucks. Maybe more so than the other guys.
Anyway it is relatively entertaining.

Although the current generation of trucks is great, in 2020 a whole new batch of all redesigned trucks will be available.
In the last few generations of trucks more high strength steel has been used in the frames to make them stiffer. The stiffer frames help the driving dynamics. My 2017 Ford drives a lot better than my 2012 Ford Super Duty.
What I expect in 2020:
1. Even more high strength steel in the frame with a mix of ultra high strength steel. Yes, ultra high strength steel is a thing. The mild steel which was used for years and years is heavy and weak compared to the much higher tinsel strength high and ultra high strength steel.
2. Slightly more powerful diesel engines from Ford and Ram. Chevy revamped the Duramax for this year already.
3. Considerably more powerful gasoline engines. Chevy will retire the 6.0 litre for a larger engine. Ford will retire the V10 6.8 Triton and the 6.2 Boss engines for a 7.x litre. Ram will also have a larger gas engine in the range of 7.x litre range.
4. More speeds in the transmission from all 3 manufacturers.
5. More use of aluminum from Chevy and Ram.
6. Increased towing and cargo capacity.
Disclaimer - I sifted thru a lot of internet information. There could be errors and ommissions.
