All Truck Boxes are not the same

Went to use a nice canopy off my 89 ford donor vehicle(76 Ford Ranger 4X4 )to put on my 1998 Dodge Ram TC wanting to keep everything nice and secure when in transit. Little did I know the tail gate end of the box is narrower than the front on the Dodge? I got it to work and everything is in line with the cab doors but just a heads up it's not a straight swap. I measure just at the cab end of the box. I thought they quite making out of parallel boxes back in the late 80's and early 90's when GMC/ Chevy. made their tapered beds and raised havoc with camper and canopy manufactures.

I ran an older full size straight canopy ( they are called toppers around here) on my 1996 Ram. It really didn't look all that bad, but it was noticeable.

I agree looks fine but if you look hard you notice and in my case I used 2 layers of sill sealer (building material) between my bed rails and canopy- topper and it's light blue. I'm still working on how I'm going to finish trimming it out.
But I'm pleased two latches and I have the key Secure

Yes the new generation Rams from 93 had tapered boxes. We had that problem early when we tried to build racks for them.

rideandslide reasonable is the reason I'm leaving my canopy/topper on for now and it will do the job perfectly.
Caissiel so Dodge changed with body design in 1993? The 1998 (mine) 8 ft. measures 65.62 at cab and 63 at tail gate. How far are the short boxes out?
You don't see the differents until you putsomething parallel on it
Don't get me wrong the body design looks good but, I can see now why a lot of folks sell their toppers with their trucks when they move on to a different truck.

Short box oe standard box suits the cab up front and share the same tailgate. Same measurements.
