Is there anyone on the boards that has a long bed conversion Mega Cab? I have an 06 and am almost persuaded to do this.. LongBedMegaCab.com There are several others that do this but I like where these guys cut the frame better than other options. If someone has experience, good or bad I'd like to hear. Thanks!

Join the Turbo Diesel Register. There are people there who have had it done.

I have an 06 Mega Cab, too. It's tempting, but I can't justify the cost.

Dodge does offer a dually long bed don't they? why the offering of a 6' shortie dually?
I think that I read that next year the Mega will also have a longbed.
I'm not sure of the market they targeted with a 6' dually short.

Until the 2010s come out, you can get a 3500 Quad Cab long bed or a MegaCab short bed dually. They both use the same wheelbase. You can't get a MegaCab long bed from the factory (they couldn't/wouldn't tool up for the new longer frame, driveshafts, etc.), but there are a number of sources for this conversion in the aftermarket.

In 2010, the 3500 will have a true Crew Cab (larger than the current Quad Cab but smaller than the MegaCab) with long bed availability.

Yep, the 3500 dually MegaCab is much bigger inside than the 3500 dually Quad Cab or the competitors' Crew Cabs, but you are stuck with a short bed with the 3500 MegaCab dually. That'll get fixed in 2010 with the 3500 Crew Cab/long bed dually.

Go over to Dieseltruckresource. A member there, Scotty, has one, among others.

He'd probably give you good info on which place to have it done.

The quad cab is OK for children, and OK for large adults for a short trip... but not so much for adults on a longer trip.

Not offering the mega in a long box from the factory IMHO was bone headed. It ruled out Dodge for a lot of people...

Anyway, the conversion is quite expensive. 2009 saw the introduction of more of a crew cab, with long box, and 2010 should see that change in the heavy duty trucks (assuming dodge is still in operation).

At first i was thinking about that shortiebed monstercab from the perspective of a 5'r tow'r when I couldn't understand its configuration,

but if you had a tagalong and didn't want the extra length of the bed for towing around, it would be a great TT tow vehicle if you had a family,
lind of like Ford's Excursion except its a STOUT tow'r

Yeah, the mega with short box would probably be perfect for the vacation/family trailer tower. I just wish you had the choice to go long bed.

For people who use a pickup camper, or haul hay or construction materials, that bed pretty much rules it out. Even for 5th wheels, I didn't want to worry about smacking the cab or having a slider, otherwise I probably would have bought one.

If they did a mega long box, though, I'd hope they put the tighter turning wider axle from the medium duty line in it. I test drove an F450, and I bet that thing could turn a circle completely inside the turning circle of my quad cab/long box...
