I am running a wire from my motorhome to the toad to keep the battery charged. Does anyone know if I need to add some type of regulater so the current only flows to the battery and not from the battery in the toad?

Installing a diode in the line will allow current to only flow one direction.

This is what I would use Electrical Diodes | Roadmaster Tow Bars

you should be able to get them at Camping World.

Why do you want to run a wire to the toad to charge the battery? How many miles, how long will you drive before you disconnect and drive the toad itself?

Thanks bd for the info. I did add the diode and a fuse and will test the system whenwe return to northeast iowa. Brrrrrrr.

The battery was going down in just a couple of hours even though I made sre everything was turned off. I have a brake system that plugs into the lighter so I need to keep the toad vehicle battery up.

Sounds like you need a new battery. Take it to any parts store and have it tested.
