Be careful hooking up or....
We ran a wreck involving a camper recently. The owner allowed someone else to set up he rig, failed to check the set up, and this was the end result.
No injuries, however, the possibilities were endless!
Please be careful out there!!!

How do you know it was the hitch setup and not just bad driving?

One side of the hitch was on link 1, the other link 5. The driver lost control.

Inadequate TV cannot control travel trailers and keep them from fish tailing and flipping. That's usually what causes these accidents.

So how would that cause a wreck? I assume you are talking about the equalizer hitch. The chain links on the equalizer bars does not effect the hitch.

One side had been connected on the 1st link (not much torque) and the other side was on 5th or so link. That would make the trailer try to pull caddy wampus. The constant pull to one side would induce a side to side sway as the trailer would try to pull straight and the one bar would pull it to that side, and I didn't notice a friction brake attached where one should be.

I just don't see how that alone caused an issue. I'd like to test that way it was hooked up and see if it makes it sway any more than normal.

so go ahead and test it. let us know how it works out. if the results are the same as above, post some pictures.

i am sorry i am with him that alone did not do it
you can see it was raining this is more just over/hard braking
but no..... sway bars are made that if one comes off the load is not moved that much most sway bars come in 6 inc apart at the truck at the ball
truth be told you really only get sway over 45 MPR giving how the road looks he should have not been going over that
still sorry that some one lost there TT but the blame still gos to the driver

I towed my car trailer home with one bar when the other one broke, I didn't feel any thing different at all.

Hard to make some educated guesses without knowing what the TV was and what some other things might have happened.
