Bed capacity?

Looking to upgrade to a toy hauler here in the next month. But I'm thinking I'm going to be limited on models. I have a 2012 ram megacab 4x4 cummins with 3:73 gears. Stats says 13700 towing and 2490 payload. Current 5er is 10700 and hitch weighs 1650. Was looking at XLR 380amp, few cyclones and possibly a montana.
Can I get away with a heavier hitch on some bigger models? Seen a few rams pulling raptors and cyclones that are same setup as me. Are they taking a risk or am I missing something?

I've seen those rams also. Likely they're overweight at the pin and maybe for towing. We've got 36' Carbon, which isn't as optioned as the Cyclone or Montana - and it's gross is over 14k.

The fact is that your Ram will pull it just fine. Likely you'll hit the payload limit first, but 13.7k isnt' far behind. The issue will be stability, legality, and braking.

I can tell you that moving from a single wheel to a dual wheel ram makes a big difference... Or keep see if you can find something that is under 14k gorss and 2500 pin...

Don't know what state you're in - but the other thing to watch for is that many states require a different license for towing that much weight. Your RV dealer won't tell you.

I assume you have a 3500, because the payload on my 2012 CTD Megacab 2500 with 3:73s is A LOT less than 2,490lbs.

Those trailers are really dually 3500 territory.
