Best dually truck rock guard to protect fifth wheel.
What do you use and like to protect your fifth wheel from damage caused by stones/ rocks while driving?
I just purchased and returned a Towtector bumper mount rock protector because of quality issues and melting from my F350 dually diesel side exhaust. I got the 96 inch wide one to protect the fifth wheel.
Debating on wider/ lower mud flaps (it has factory installed which are narrower)? Or, thick rubber bumper mount protector (verify heat protection though)?
Appreciate any feedback.

My travel trailer has a big aluminum plate on the front bottom half of it. I'd rather it get chewed up than the fiberglass underneath it.

It looks nice, but it wouldn't work for a fifth wheel due to the front compartment.

You will get the best protection both for your trailer, and for your truck by getting long enough mud flaps in your fender wells.
The DuraFlap are as long as you dare, without having to worry about backing into a curb or parking guard when you are not towing.

Duraflap, do you leave that hitch in all the time, there's no pain like walking around the back and hitting it with your knee, don't ask me how I know this

Nina I can tell you my flaps were too low with my factory rear air ride. Backing up onto a curb with one rear tire then pulling forward caused the bottom of the flap to buckle and cause a crease in the lower weight. I raised them 2" and now are just right. Mine were standard length.

I have the duraflap (flap is starting to sound funny) mud flaps as well based on the recommendations of others (Cummins comes to mind) and they work very well. (I have the shorter ones so I wouldn't have to worry as much about curbs.)

Another recommendation for Duraflap--have them on my '10 450/'09 450 and '07 350. Work very well. But you CANNOT account for every rock that may get flipped up no matter how much coverage you can put on the truck. RockTamers cover just about every area, but are very awkward to put on/take off.
Duraflap is about the best overall protection as they stick out past the edge of the tires on each side, and they are very easy to install.

The REAR air ride trucks sit much lower in the rear.
