I'm new to rving, I had a reputable company install my 5th wheel hitch and wiring. When I turn on the blinkers, the brakes lock up on my trailer! Help please! I will be taking it back to the company, just curious if this has happened to anyone else.

Really need to know what is your tow vehicle and brake controller.
Sounds like they just have the plug wired wrong.

Here is a wiring diagram that may help solve your problem.

Scroll down to "7 Way Systems".
If you understand how the plugs are supposed to be wired, it will help you deal with the "expert."

It sure is tough to get good, quality work done these days, isn't it? You'd think they would have tested it before sending it out.

Mine does this as well. I think it is because the brake controler is wired to, and activated by, the brake light switch oon the brake pedal. For some reason on my F-250 the 4 ways power up that circuit and the brake contoler thinks I am using the brakes.

I had a similiar problem.
the wiring diagram that gets provided by the controller manufacturer was incorrect. I was able to fix via the tried and true method of "trial and error".
I used a circuit tester and worked through it logically.
Hopefully the reputable company will fix thier error for free.

Sometimes an adapter must be used when the tow vehicle has separate brake and turn signal lights.
