brake controller not working

i have a electric brake controller for the 5th wheel
it is not working, i get a green light on the controller and no going to red or orange light when i push the brake peddle
i did see that iam getting 12v to the controller for the brake wire or stop light wire, so thats working, are there other things to check?

Sounds like you may have the sensitivity turn down to low. I do not know what controller you are using but there should be a knob that you need to adjust until the lights start changing. Turn your knob until it stops. Count the turns back to the other stop position. Then turn the knob to the half way position and start there. Good luck.

Many possible places for your problem,
First is to go back to the basics. Check to be sure it is set up properly.
Second, when is the last time you adjusted the trailers brakes,
Third, start looking for broken wires,
Fourth check the magnets for a short or open.

i forgot to say, i ve adjusted the leveling knob and the other sinsitive
knob, its not connected to the trailer, i still get the green light

do these go bad? ive not changed any wire worked 3 months ago

Yes, controllers do go bad.
The light only changes color when the truck is attached to the trailer brake system. I used to have that model controller, it is a time-based, ramp-style controller, not the best type for controlling trailer braking system. I forget the brand name, Reese I think. Mine was bought in 1998, today there are much better controllers available for near $100.

yep its on a 97 dodge could be a cheap older model
i was not aware of hooing the trailer caused the light to change when pushing the pedal
