Cadillac as a Tow Vehicle

Seen this set up today at the mall parking lot. Not sure how well this set up would work. The tongue jack is down in the pic but it was all set up with a wdh hitch on it.

It should work fine if it is in the weight limits.
I had an Old 98 with a 403cuin and air leveling, it worked great for towing a couple different rigs.

Some Cadillacs can tow that much trailer without being overloaded, but not that Caddy. For example, that Caddy could be a 2010 DTS, which has a max trailer weight rating of 1,000 pounds and a max hitch weight rating of 150 pounds.

The 2010 Caddy Escalade has tow ratings from 7600 to 8300, depending on wheelbase and engine, with max tongue weight up to 1,100 pounds with a WD hitch. But the Escalade is really a dolled-up Chevy Suburban 1500 which is based on the Chevy 1500 pickup.

Way back when, the rear-wheel-drive Caddy sedans such as the Fleetwood and Sedan Deville could tow a decent-size TT without being overloaded. But the Caddy in the photo you posted looks like a later-model DTS with front wheel drive and almost no towing capability.

Thats a mid 90's Brougham, basically a Caprice on steroids. Odds are it's fine. Caddys make great haulers apparently. Check this out.

20 year old info on those is a bit scarce, but this site claims that car was rated for 7,000lbs with the towing package.

I once saw a mid 70's Cadillac Coupe DeVille with a gooseneck ball dead center of the roof towing a 5er that appeared to be custom built as it's shape was cutout to exactly match the contour of the rear, trunk, rear window and roofline of the Caddy. I wish I'd been able to snap a pic, but in the early 80's we didn't have the amazing devices attached to our fingertips at all times like we do now. It was nothing like I'd ever seen or still have ever seen yet.

Seems safe

Older Caddys, Caprice, Roadmaster, Crown Vic, etc. could all "bumper tow" a medium/small trailer because they had body on frame and rear wheel drive and fairly long wheelbase.
Anything newer with a unibody and front wheel drive won't tow much.

I thought that too, but just yesterday I saw a Dodge Caravan pulling what looked to be about a 25' Airsteam. I would have loved to get a picture, but we were both moving with him coming at me.

2014 Grand Caravan
3.6L V6 VVT
Six-Speed AutoStick Transmission
Towing: 3,600 lbs
Dodge Vehicle Towing Capacity Chart | Towing Guide & Capacity | Dodge

So "tow rating" of 3,600 pounds. F-150 with base V6 and 6-speed automatic tranny in a body-on-frame pickup has tow ratings of 5,500 to 6,100 pounds. Even the 2010 Ranger pickups with V6 and automatic had tow ratings over 5,000 pounds.
