Can a Truck Dealer still make me buy it?
Hi, I was going to buy a used 2001 truck and backed out at last minute but I signed the papers to buy it and wondering if the dealer could still make me buy this truck?
Thanks, Bob

If you had a bad feeling, then you did the right thing. I always go with my gut.

If you didn't give him a check, as a rule of thumb, you haven't completed the contract. And you haven't taken the title and possession, have you?
As long as you walked out with the keys and without giving them money, generally speaking, their only case would be to pursue damages based on cost to them, which, in the hour or two you were talking to them, is unlikely to get much credit from a judge.

This does not apply to all purchases and not is all states. Better check your facts.
More than likely you will loose your deposit.

No Check and No title. Vehicle has never left the dealer's lot. They was filling out the License plate information when I walked out. They have the keys. No deposit.

The 3 days depends on if you signed the papers at their place of business or at your home. One way, you have 3 days, the other, you do not. But, I don't remember which is which.

Tennessee might have diffient rules. They wouldn't let me come back the next day. They said buy now or never come back. I wanted to make sure I'm getting a good deal and look it up on NADA website but no I cann't do that.

Given those choices they made the decide easy. Never come back.
i hate car dealers who screw around with tricks. Must work on many people as they continue to do year over year. The guy that gets my business is the one who just deals straight up.

If you signed an offer sheet and they came back with a counter offer that nulifies the first offer. That was tried on us this week and we said that you changed the offer and we then countered back after walking away and having lunch. They called me in about 30 minutes with a counter again and we gave our last offer. They came back and asked if I had cash to seal the deal and answered yes. We got our 2003 Chateau for $12,200 they were asking $18,999.
