At what average temp? My garage will average 90-95 and peak around 104 degrees, not ideal storage for DEF that might be in the tank many, many months.

X2 ^^ "out of direct sunlight" is the key point, age and temp are not as relevant. UV breaks down the urea. You might avoid over 3/4 full in winter below freezing temps, as water freezes.
In addition to the magnetic ring adapter of this OP question.

Be well.

And what exactly is DEF? Urea? Isn't that liquid fertilizer?

Be careful filling your Ford DEF tanks, as it's so easy to add it to your diesel tank. It sets up like concrete throughout the entire fuel system and every fuel line, filter, injection system and injectors must be replaced. Oh, yea, it's a cab and bed off repair that costs around $13K. Some insurance companies will cover it, however.

The service mgr @ my Ford dealer stated that adding DEF to the fuel tank was a $1000.00 screw up. If the the key was turned to ON then it was an $8000.00 screw-up! Even without starting the engine. Be careful out there.

When adding DEF I always pull my head out of my dark place and really think about what I am doing. I seldom have to add it so it does not effect normal days.

Here in Texas DFW area. I use the QT. On my 2015 ecodisel I fill up there.
The loves around me we have used but the QT is cleaner.
