Diff fluid change interval

How often are you all that pull changing diff fluid? Just following the recommended interval even if you're pulling or are more often? Less often?

You should refer to your owners manual... for sure change more often if towing.

I use Amsoil Severe Gear, and change it every 75k.

Towing heavy as I do (33K combined) the SevereGear AMZ/OIL 75-110 can't be beat.

How about the first change. I'm an Amsoil user myself and have wondered how long to go before switching over.

No Idea what you are driving but I would change out at 5K.

LOL ...
I wandered off into a different forum and didn't realize it. I'm driving an F53 Ford based A class. Nonetheless, the question was serious. Yeah, I thought I'd get the final drive upgraded to Amsoil right away.

Thx

I always change diff fluid to Amsoil as soon as I buy a truck (I always have bought used) and then start my routine from there.

My 2011 RAM Dually towing a 28K combined for over 1/2 of it's 65K I changed out to AMZ/OIL SevereGear 75-110 at around 5K. The pic is at near 65k, the ring gear shows very little wear. The fluid came out translucent dark brown.

The Owner's Guide for my '99.5 F-250 said it was good for the life of the truck when filled with synthetic. The Owner's Guide for my 2012 F-150 is hiding from me at the moment, but I'll bet it says the same thing. Both my 99.5 F-250 and my 2012 F-150 require SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant. Lighter duty trucks may require SAE 75W90 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant

And of course that assumes you never exceed the weight limits, especially the GCWR, of your tow vehicle. Your Owner's Guide may be different.

But I preferred to be a bit more careful and changed my rear axle lube at about 100,000 miles, using Mobil 1 Synthetic gear lube. Here's the hype for Mobil 1:

The Amsoil hype is just that = hype. All major oil companies sell full- synthetic gear lube that meets the specs of your Ford. Amsoil may be just as good, but it's certainly not better Than Mobil 1 or Shell or any other major oil company brand.

I believe that most new trucks now come with synthetic differential fluid. That being said I will probably change both diff and the transfer case fluids at 30 - 40K. I want my new SD to last a long time.
Transmission fluid is now synthetic and good for supposedly 150 K. Will change that at 50 K.

I know all the searching I did on my 2011 1500 Silverado 4x4 said that the differentials were the weak point of the truck. That being said I changed the oils last summer at about 55000. I never had any problem with the truck and would do at least 1 camping run of about 1600 miles round trip. So that being said I would change the oil every 2 to 3 years depending on how much I tow along with the length of the tow

Yep. I found the Owner's Guide for the 2012 F-150, and sure enough it does say the same thing about the rear diff lube. However, deeper in the F-150 maintenance schedule, it says that the synthetic rear diff lube should be changed at 150,000 miles. So I plan to change mine at about 100,000 miles.
