Give hubby a break and let him get the mud flaps, IF he get the Dura Flaps. If you put them on, they need to be DURAble, and cover the entire tire surface. Don't hang them too close to the ground, or you will roll them under when backing solo into a curb area.

Mud flaps are a cheap investment compared to hours of cleaning & rock damage.
Like everyone else - 7" off the ground for all the previous reasons given.

Yes, one of the first things I install on my new truck. I've never had them before. But decided to after not having them on my other truck. I would go with out them now. Keeps debris and dirt to a minimum.

I made my own, this set was done probably 10 years ago and I have just modified them as necessary to fit the different trucks I've had. I really like the looks of the Dura-Flaps plus they have done the fabricating already, so if I were to do it again, I'd seriously consider them.

Definitely recommend mud flaps front and rear. You want to protect the paint from debris thrown up by the tires. I have had many different kinds of mud flaps, and the Dura Flaps ARE the best, and very easy to install.

Thanks. I read these posts and went and got flaps for the front of my truck. Look like they should have always been there.

Do you have mud flaps on your tow vehicle?
In Texas it's required if you are driving a DRW vehicle. A guy just got a ticket in his brand new Ford Platinum DRW by a Houston cop. I find that beyond ridiculous with the crime Houston has, they have much bigger issues to worry about. I could understand a warning maybe but the guy was given a ticket. He says the dealer didn't install them but I have my doubts about that, maybe there's more to the story.

I bought my 2012 while working in Louisiana. Dealer didn't install mud flaps. Went to get it inspected in Texas later on and failed because of it. I had never noticed it.

I only learned about it studying for my Class A license, then heard about the guy just ticketed. BS ticket on a brand new truck just from the dealer. I just love the Texas laws; you can have a dually lifted an insane amount but you better have those mud flaps. They say it's about safety meanwhile no motorcycle helmet required.

Just a thought, have seen the "hula skirt" on a bar that slips into the receiver hitch. Would work if towing a 5'er. Thinking about purchasing one for mine.

Yes to mud flaps. Keeps crap from dinging up the truck too when not towing.
