My 2011 Ram 1500 with the tow package and brake controller does not have these settings. I tried following your steps and I have no choices for brake types.

Ditto for the 2011 RAM 2500 The only setting for the 2011 appears to be gain. Nothing in EVICS, nothing in the manual except how to set the gain.

That being said... I have no problems braking my Cougar 318SAB with the gain set at 6 to 7 (depending on road conditions).

Right. These controller adjustment options showed up on the 2012 trucks.

Still unhappy with stock unit. Is there an after-market unit that will fit in the existing controller space in dash?
Thanks

2012 dodge ram 4500 trailer brake controller problem

I own a 2012 ram 4500 chassis cab and haul a 53 foot trailer tri axle with it.. I have been having the issue where my trailer brake controller will flash the SC and on the dash say "check trailer brake wiring" and "trailer brake disconnected" and the worst part about it is everything about it is random.. some days it will work just fine for hours on end and then POOF starts acting up and will either keep acting up or go back to normal.. The symptoms are so random it is hard to pin point the problem.. I have checked and rechecked wiring all over the truck and trailer makeing sure there are no shorts in the system.. the only other thing i have left to try is another brake controller for the truck.. every dealer i have called so far doesnt seem to no anything about the towing system.. any advise would be greatly appricated.. thanks
Joe

Had the same error message with my 2011 dodge 2500 factory BC. I replaced the pigtail and had the shop check it for shorts. Nothing fixed it. A friend told me the ground from the pu to the tt was a probable cause and he recommended running another ground wire in addition. Don't know if this helps. I sold the old tt to my bro-in-law. I need to check and see if his chevy gets the same error message. Good luck and let us know if you get the fix!

My 2011 Ram 2500 SL does not have this option on the EVIC. Does the TT have to be connected or is this option available on SLT and Laramie packages?

I am having the same problem as a couple of you with "SC" and check trailer connection. has anybody found the issue? I have a 2010 Ram. Doing a little research some say the factory controller is too sensitive. Has anybody replaced the controller and problem went away?

I gave up and ordered a P3. I will take that factory controller out and put in the P3. For you guys having the problem plug in the trailer and turn your key on all the way or start the truck. Go back and see if there is a clicking noise coming from the brakes. Mine was sending power to the magnets making them partially activate. It did this on more than just 1 trailer. I think the problem is the controller.

I have a 2011 Big Horn looking for fuse location for brake control. Cheched the manual for fuse box. I found the picture and location. The panel is not the same as what i have in my truck. The brake control will not work or even light up when the trailer is hooked up. Had some problem last week with water in the 7 pin. Sprayed WD40 seemed to help with alarm just does not work at all. Any help please.
