Double trailer connector
TV is 2000 F350 Power Stroke. I have two connector plugs, one below the bumper, and one in the left inside fender well. Don't know if this is factory or not. PO must have owned a 5th wheel, cause the hitch mounting holes were in the bed. If I plug into the bumper plug, bake controller indicates connected, and everything works. Plug into the fender well, and controller show nothing. but all the lights work. Is this dual setup factory? Gonna try to figure it out today.

Founf the problem!
Dirty -Dirty - Dirty. Connector is through the inner bed wall, and not fender well
May have been factory, but I doubt it. Wiring has the corrugated protector around it, but the tape they used to cover wiring into the back of the connector was pulled back, and had years of accumulation of road grime. Cleaned everything up. burnished the contacts a little, and re-assembled. Works great!
Wire color coding all wrong according to Ford prints, so doubt it is factory.

No, it's not Ford OEM. Ford didn't offer that option in Y2K. IIRC, the plug on the bumper is standard for a Y2K model SuperDuty, but the one in the bed was added by the upfitter that installed the 5er hitch.

Just had the same problem with my 04 F350. Everything worked at the bumper plug but only lights in the bed plug.
I went to a local truck accessories shop and got a "y" setup. When I got under and started removing electrical tape it looked like a tangled fishing reel. The new set up didn't have the correct plug in for my wiring, so I had to cut and splice.....but....it's just one place not two or three.
Everything works great.

Bumper socket may (Should be if they ordered the towing package) factory, or after market if they did not.
Bed socket is normally added when you put in a 5'th wheel hitch,
Bad wiring is common I fear.. Heck, I drive a class A and when they put in the new 6 Pin for my towed.. Now understand they did everything right, No mistakes.... But it still had to be re-done because the way they connected the wires just was not robust enough. Thankfully.. My skills included much better connecting.

Yes unfortunately that wiring catches all the junk from the road. My factory bumper plug was so corroded it was barely working
