The next round of EPA regs will be phased in from 2014 to 2018. Details HERE.
Here is an excerpt from the article dealing with heavy duty gasoline and diesel pickup trucks:
Quote:
|
A week after the Obama administration announced ambitious new fuel mileage standards for passenger cars and light vehicles, the U.S. EPA and Dept. Of Transportation unveiled the first-ever fuel efficiency and emissions standards for commercial trucks, vans and buses.
The new standards apply to vehicles divided into three categories and to all models made between 2014 and 2018. By the end of that period, heavy-duty trucks will be required to reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by 23%. Vocational vehicles such as work trucks, pickup & delivery trucks and school and transit buses, must reduce their levels by approximately 10%.
Regulations for heavy-duty pickup trucks and vans will differ dependent on fuel type. Gasoline-fueled vehicles must reduce fuel consumption by 10% and GHG by 12% while diesel vehicles must reduce fuel use and emissions by 15% and 17%, respectively.

I guess I will have to drive 15 to 17% less so that I will use less fuel thus less emissions.

The laws of Congress, the regulations of bureaucrats, neither trump the laws of physics.

He had to get the two Death Stars to go to Iowa before the regs kicked in.
Does anybody know where the two he traded in are located. I imagine they are in tip-top shape.

I think the EPA is going to get there feet stepped on before that. They want to get fuel up to $12/gal and mileage up to 55 MPG. Does that make sense? Which do you believe will be first?

You have to love it! Only in our government will a bunch of lawyers tell a bunch of engineers what they will invent over the next eight to 10 years.

I don't know, but I believe the answer is a lot like what my father would say when I wished for something:
"Wish in one hand and defecate in the other and see which one fills up first!"
