Excursion 7.3 Diesel

His weekend while camping I ran into an interesting situation. After installing 2 new batteries in the boat (boys left marine radio on). Upon returning to 03 Excursion batteries were dead in it. Was like you got to be kidding me. Got judd and drove for about an hour at highway speeds to different places. Batteries charged fine. Next morning completely dead again. We were leaving that day and I had enough diesel to get home so I wasn't worried thinking I would take it in today. This morning everything was fine. No problems at all. Any ideas?

maybe light under the hood with a microswitch. microswitch could be sticking unplug the light under the hood and see if that helps.

Looked at both options. Battery cables looked good. Also, when it drains the battery it will do it in an hour or so. I've left lights on over night and it's still started. Guess I'll wait for it to do it again than take it in. Annoying. After dropping $260 plus taxes for two new boat batteries it would usually irk me. But seeing as I'm a school administrator and were out of school in less than two weeks I'm pretty tolerant of a lot right now.

First check alternator. 13.5 accross batteries while running.

Then check for codes.

Maybe you have a stuck relay causing something to load batteries such as your glow plugs. Might show up in the codes.

x2 on the alternator.
It may even be a good move to remove it and have it bench tested and hopefully they'll find an intermittent problem.
