F-150 with 3.0 Diesel?

I haven't been very active lately so if I've missed this, please pardon me...

I just saw an article about the 3.0 diesel being offered in '18 F-150s. Anyone got one? Let us know how it is, please...

Read some on it
The biggest issue is it only going to go in the higher end models
Not in XLT

Not Ford info but diesel info.

The Ram Eco-Diesel is reported to be a very nice truck and able to tow a trailer ok.

Fast Lane Trucks on YouTube says the Ford, same as the Ram seems slow. Do a YouTube search to verify I am remembering it right.

Just watch The Fast Lane Truck guys on YouTube do there tow test with it. They killed it. Even the retest after they got the truck back from Ford showed it to be a dog.

I bought a new truck about 2 months ago. I looked at the specs on the Ram Eco-Diesel. Then the Ford. At the time I was downsizing from a powerful diesel dually and 5th wheel. From the specs seems both the Ram and Ford are tuned for economy as both want to advertise 'Best in Class' milage.

Neither one is fast.

If you want a diesel like engine the 3.5 eco-boost comes close with the low end torque.

I was tempted to go look. I think they're missing the boat with these small diesels. I know we're talking about 1/2 ton trucks but these diesels seem to be car engines that they're shoehorning in. So... it looks like I won't be tempted further. It's a shame that 5.0 Cummins didn't make it into a Ford or a Ram... Just my opinion.

Thanks for replies.

Who is missing what boat with these diesels you didn’t look at? My car engine economy diesel had 370k transporting TTs before I had my first motor issue a gasket. A point at which many gassers are in the boneyard.

I would pass on the 5.0 diesel it takes as much fuel as the 6.7 while making much less power. IMO The practical limit for a properly specked any Mfgs half ton towing a TT is 8k. In my experience it’s also the practical towing limit of the 3.0 diesel with respects to power & longevity. Put with 30 Mpg Highway or 14–15 mpg towing at 65 I would be tempted to look at one also.
