F-250 6.2 gas engine oil dip stick - crazy design

Ok, my F-250 is scheduled for it 1st oil change tomorrow. It is going to the dealer for the 'free oil' change. So today I opened the hood for the 1st time and pulled out the oil dip stick. It is the wackiest convoluted design I have ever seen. Long, flimsy, with a curly Q shape.

For build cars / trucks for so long, I wonder about the engineer that designed this dip stick.

Anyone else notice this crazy design.

Oh, I have 2,500 miles on the truck and 6 months so it is due.

It's not that unusual of a design, many newer vehicles have a twisted stick, it helps them to push down in the tube without trying to bend or so they told us when the first one came about 20 years or so ago and I was working in a dealership.

Hopefully your 6.2 treats you well, mine has 92,000 miles on it so far and still runs like brand new.

Mine is up for its 5th oil change I change every 5,000 instead of fords 7,500. I found out last fall the so called free oil change in only 2 a year, or at least that's what my dealer told me.

If it isn't 4' long it isn't an issue!!

I have the same truck and motor. Just FYI- some guys have a 7qt stick and others have 7.5qts.

The 1st oil change is done. I looked again at the dope stick. Yes, now very clean oil and the dip stick is mostly long and needs a twist and manipulated to get it back in.

I now think I am making a big deal out of just a long dip stick that need a twist to get back in. Two handed operation was new to me.

If you think that’s bad pull the transmission stick.
