Fast Lane Trucks Youtube

This is how I spend a cold morning waiting for the north Florida temps to go from 45 degrees to 70 degrees. Also there is some good information.

What these guys do is run the trucks down the Ike Gauntlet in Colorado while towing. They then measure the brake temps. Then they tow the load up the Colorado mountain.

They also talk about some of the features on the trucks. Like the step in the Ford tailgate, the Tundra easy down tailgate, the bed liners, bed cleats etc.

The guys get a bit long winded IMHO as I am interested in the summary results.

I have watched their 1/2 ton truck tests, and 3/4 and 1 ton truck tests. I have not sern them with MDT's or HDT's yet.

Now - these test are bogus for the gasoline engines since they are at 8,000 and 10,000 feet. The Ford Eco-Boost for example is the best pulling truck at these elevations because of the turbo. The turbo is affected by the elevation but not as much as the non-turbo engines.

Gasoline engines lose 3% of their power for every 1,000 of elevation.

Turbo diesel engines are affected much less than gasoline engines at high elevations.

Anyway - until it warms up.

Yep, Cummins turbodiesels hold their sea level ratings up to 10,000 ft elevation.
