I'll have better descriptions of what was replaced and the technical names of those things once the issue is resolved, but until then you'll need to settle with generic, meaningless descriptions.

The dealer collaborated with Chrysler as to what they thought the issue would be. The part came in this morning and was installed and now they have successful communication between the truck and their fancy scanner. However, it's still throwing a bunch of codes that apparently represent a truck that is not happy, so the dealer has ordered the requisite happiness parts and hope to have them Monday to finish the install and fix the problem. On a brighter note, I'll be taking their loaner on a trip we had planned, so I'll save a bundle on fuel!

CB, this truck has the proximity entry. If the key fob dies, the backup according to the owners manual is to hold the fob against the start button and then you should be good. This was a much more in-depth issue.

I've got the same truck. A interwebz check didn't turn up a chronic problem, but I was still wondering...

Glad you're making progress.

I can only suspect you're a victim of a strong EMP (electro magnetic pulse) thrown off by the storm. You do not need a direct strike to do damage. It's been known for a longtime that modern vehicles (and that includes aircraft), computers, virtually all electronics can be disabled by EMP. There are both police and military versions of EMP weapons. Newer military equipment designers take these weapons seriously and design systems and weapons with protective measures. I'm guessing Dodge doesn't.

Just in the wrong place at the right time.

Update-

In addition to the first thingie that was fried and fixed to establish communication with their neat scanner tool, the battery thingie that was replaced, now the dealer has ordered a new PCM for the truck that should arrive on Friday.

Poor truck.

Always a good idea to carry extra happiness parts and thingies for those times that you need them! Keep us updated on your progress, hope they fix it soon.

I'm sure everyone has been refreshing their app/browser in anticipation of a post being made to this thread, so here goes. **drumroll**

The thingie didn't get delivered today. And deliveries aren't made on Mondays? Must be some new thing. Anyway. Hopefully Tuesday. I guess it doesn't matter as it sounds like our DRV might not be done until August now instead of the first week of July. To sum things up-life is still good. No complaints here.

The dealer must have received a special delivery, as when I got home today I had a voicemail saying the truck was done. One of the salespeople stayed late so I could grab the truck, and everything seems to be in order. Even our channels and favorite artists are still programmed in the radio, which surprised me a bit. The shop had already left for the day, so I won't be able to post the details on what was replaced until Monday. Have a great weekend everyone!

So far so good Frank. Everything I've turned on works and there aren't any flashing lights on that shouldn't be.

Here's the list from the dealer:
ELECTRICAL
4449 W
1 68227783AA Module-transmission control
1 4962269AI Sensor-battery
1 68170201AB Module-engine controller

"Found no communication on BUS. Removed start connectors until TCM star connector as pulled and BUS came back. Replaced TCM got codes C013E and PO521. Tested for C013E found battery sensor INOP replaced sensor. Code went away. Tested for P0521 found PCM to have internal fault. Replaced and reprogrammed PC all OK at this time. Customer needs to replace horn fuse."

Yes, you read that last part right. On a truck with less than 1400 miles that costs over $71,000 and was in the shop for two weeks, they refused to replace the horn fuse I pulled to get the truck to quiet down. Technician's reasoning when given the slanted eye-brow question- "well some of those fuses are like, $50 and we aren't sure which one you pulled!" I simply chose to thank them and leave in good standing.

Not sure how helpful this will be to anyone in the future, but now we know. Thinking about adding "Lightning Edition" to my signature...
