fleetwood wiring harness problems

I have 2006 fleetwood niagra tent trailer. I took it out for the first time this year and had problems. I used to tow it with a 2005 suburban, but my wife totaled that so we bought a 2007 nissan armada. When I hooked the trailer up it had brakes and the 2 front running lights and thats it. the weird thing was when I used the brakes or the blinkers the running lights would get brighter with the brake and the running lights would blink with the blinkers. I checked the nissan on another camper and it worked fine. Does anyone have any ideas why or how this could happen. I took the trailer plug apart and it looked fine. Also the battery seemed to charge fine on the 5 hr. trip. Lucky though I avoide the cops.

Hello , and Welcome to iRV2.
Sounds like you have a classic , bad ground , or 2. If you hooked to another trailer and everything worked, sounds like the truck is fine, then the lights on the trailer aren't properly grounded to the trailer frame. Pull the light lenses off and look for corroded mounting screws. Most of the trailer lenses aren't water proof and are prone to this kind of problem. Pull any screw in the light that touches metel, the ones through plastic aren't an issue, clean the screw, and the metel sorrounding the screw hole ; steel wool or sand paper; and try the lights again. Also check the main ground wire from the plug where it hooks to the trailer frame.
Good Luck
