My truck has never been in the shop. The first 100,000 miles I towed a 32 foot, 6 ton 5th wheel all over the U.S. And now working on the second 100,000 and I tote a Lance 1130 all over the place. The truck still has the OEM brake pads!
Now I do run synthetics in the trans and in the radiator and diff. I do change oil and filter every 5,000 miles and get the oil analyzed.
Sorry to hear about your truck. Just a bad one I guess.
I would have bought Dodge but they didn't have a real crew cab. I still don't know if the MegaCab is a real crew cab.

. . . and Ford bought mine back before one year had passed. After unfixable engine problems, replaced tranny, and other things, it was a POJ. Thank the gods that Ford stepped up to the plate and took that junker back!!! As others have said, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice . . ." that'll never happen!

LAst time I had my 2002 7.3L in to the dealer for a rear axle penion seal, they were telling me to be thnakful that I had the older 7.3L and not a new 6.0L PSD. Said they were still getting a bunch in for engine related problems. Seems if you get a good one, it does great, just pray you don't get a bad one as it never seems to be fixed. They had several by backs at this small dealer.
I'd switch to Dodge/Cummins if I had to get mine replaced today. I have a 2006 Ram 1500 Quadcab with the 4.7L V-8 for a company truck and Dodge has definately turned the corner on theor trucks. Ride is goo, and quiet and no strange noises.

Here is another related link to the issue. I like Ford trucks, except for the 6.0.

I have a 7.3, and when looking at new trucks, I am told the same thing by every ford salesman, stay away from the 6.0. For me the Duramax is looking really good right now.

Ford is going to release the new 6.4L twin turbo around July I hear, if you dare. I have heard and think the 6.0 was a guick emissions fix to meet EPA standards. Remember it was introduced as a mid year change in 03 and the 6.4 will be an early 07 they say. Things that make you go Humm. I have a 03 6.0 with 39K on the odometer and about 10K in warranty work. It has seen numerous re-flashes, a radiator, turbo, 6 injectors, and a HCFM. That is not to mention the front wheel bearing on it's way out. I will say it is running better right now (1-9-06) than I can ever remember, the question is for how long? Just my .02 worth

Guys: I have an 04,F250, 6.0L, 6spd, CC, Lariat and it has been a great truck so far. I know Ford had some problems when they rushed it to market, but they have them solved for the most part.
My truck will get up to 22.5 mpg empty and between 11 and 14 mpg depending on the trailer I'm towing. (30 ft 5th wheel or 24 ft car hauler.) It has been dead reliable, and appox. 90% of the miles I have on mine have been towing. I think if you ask most six liter owners how they like their trucks, you will find that they are pleased with them.
The 99 Chev 1500 I traded on this truck spent far more time in the shop than this one has.

The 7.3 was a great engine, I had three of them.
It's too bad they discontinued it. When I sold my '02 with the 7.3 this past October I went truck shopping. I chose not to risk $50K gambling whether I'd get a good 6.0 or a bad one.
I picked up my new Duramax Dually last Tuesday.

That must be canadian mileage. I have yet to meet anyone here in the states doing better than 18 empty with a 6.0. I get 9 towing and 16 empty............................

Hi mjstef: No the mileage is in US gallons, and was hand calculated (the overhead was within 1/10th of a mpg.) The mileage with the 5th wheel was calculated twice on two trips (1 year apart March 2004 11.3 mpg and March 2005 11.1) from Huntsville, On. to Orlando, approx 1,500 miles each way. The mileage with the car hauler is calculated most weekends between May and Oct. The unloaded mileage (22) was done during an OPP safety blitz, when I was driving the speed limit, but 19 to 20 mpg is what I usually get.
Towing the car hauler the mileage varies by the speed I'm towing and if its a four or two lane highway.
The 22MPG US converts to 26.4209 MPG imperial and 11 mpg US converts to 13.2105 imperial. My best mileage to date has been 22.5 miles per US gallon or 27.0214 miles per imperial gallon. 100 liters = 26.4172 US or 21.9969 Imperial gallons.

TQ 27, I have a '05 F250 and get exactly what you do. 11 to 14 towing, but mine is with 5er, 10K lbs. 22 solo mostly inexcess of 70mgh. In fact it seems to get better at 80 than at 65 .
On other forums, I see guys claiming 18 towing I wondered if I had a bad truck. Glad to see that I don't!
