The '12 F450 has a 4.30 differential. That and the wide track front axle are the major differences from the F350.

I had a 2011 F250, first year with the 6.7, traded it to a 2015 F450 in January. The F250 had about 73,000 miles on it when I traded with no issues and I have almost 18,000 miles on the F450 with zero issues.

C130 - Can you tell that the 2015 has a more powerful engine due to the larger turbo? Or are there too many other differences 2015 F-450 / 2011 F-250 to compare engine power?
Anyone have more than 73,000 miles on their trucks?

They may not reply on here but I know there are plenty out there with MUCH more miles than that. It was difficult for me to find a used with less than 70k miles. I'm actually driving 2 states away to get mine.

I just traded a 2014 F-250 for a 2016 F-350 dually. Only reason for trading was I needed more weight carrying capacity. The F-250 had 24,000 problem free miles. Yes, I can tell the '16 has more go power since they upped the turbo for more horses! Otherwise almost exactly the same.

This video is well worth the 5 mins to watch. With all the technology that goes into a modern diesel you need to make sure you really need all that power because it's going to come with hefty bills once the warranty is over.

That is why I buy the 72 month factory extended service plan. Sure the powerstroke is warranted for 100K miles but that does NOT include the electronics on the engine. They are only covered in the 3yr/36K bumper to bumper. Piece of mind comes with 100 dollar deductible.

Well, I watched that entire video, and I'm very relieved I bought a Dodge!

I seriously doubt the Cummins is much cheaper to repair. Too much electronics on all the engines now-a-days.

Don't get me wrong, modern day diesels are amazing. Almost double the torque compared to 15 years ago, a lot less emissions and a much better ride.

I specced Cummins in our new Kenworths starting in '08. I won't order them again. Between emissions equipment issues with several trucks and having a bearing seize up in another with only 290k miles, Im done Cummins would not even try to policy adjust it because is was just over on time but nowhere near on miles. I didn't ask for a complete engine (which was what it took at $30k) just a little help. Fact of the matter is, I get tired of my truck is better than yours BS. If they were perfect....dealers wouldn't have service departments with their brand strung out in pieces. They all can and do have problems at some point. That being said, we have had very little trouble with any of our Fords, and what little has developed, our dealer is very accommodating and takes care of us.
