Found a great truck to tow my rig with. 2000 IH 4700 Lo Pro Crew Cab. DT530E, Allison 3060 double overdrive, 72k miles, Stalik conversion bed, 22.5's, 4.91 Locker, Original stock interior, in excellent shape. Air suspension 5th wheel hitch. The truck is 1 owner, with full service doc's, manuals, build sheet, and has just been serviced.I'll post a pic if i figure out how. Going to Salem Ore. to pick it up on Wednesday.

Nice rig. I was contemplating a MDT before I ended up getting a MH.

Congrats!

Nice, Ryq. I have a buddy that bought the GM Kodiak package, then had it fitted with low profile service body with all the boxes and such, then added the hitch, and off he went!!!!

You went to Salem to get this rig? Are you in Oregon or is that just where you found it?

Got back from Ore. via Seattle Coeur d' Aleine Vegas on Wed. Nice truck, avg. about 13 mpg sorta pushin it all the way home. A lot different than my Dodge. Can't tow with it till my 5er is out of the shop.

MADDOG, not from Ore., found it on the net. Are you the same MADDOG from the TDR??

Buzzcut,

We looked at Class 8 trucks to convert. Just too big for our liking,(mostly the better half's opinion). I have a CDL so no big daal to me. I hope this truck pulls as well as it looks. Might need t o up rate the DT530E a little. Or maybe stuff an ISX in there lol.

Hey Rick,

Ain't the 'Web a wonderful resource? Sounds like you had a great trip home.

I'm probably not the "MADDOG" you know from TDR as I'm not sure what "TDR" is!

You've already made a major step towards the dark side! Enjoy the first trip towing with the new rig and hopefully you won't suffer too much from the grin on your face that you'll have while towing.

Yep. He will have a grin on his face that a ten pound hammer can't knock off. Enjoy the ride.
Let us know how it's going.

Well, so far so good. Very few problems, and actually none that were not anticipated. Trip home avg mpg 12.8 pushing pretty hard, not towing. Yesterday had a rear brake caliper fail, we knew the brakes were original and had 75k on them, so no real big deal. Kinda scary though when your 13k lb vehicle decides to let the pedal get close to the floor . New front seats are scheduled to be delivered soon. Ride is better than anticipated, though on choppy cement fwy, you gotta find the smoothest lane. Will try to post some pics as they are taken.

your going to love pulling with that truck, I love it when you hear someone get excited over there rig. Your new truck will be easer to park but after some time you will start to think the HDT wouldn't be hard park either. LOL (i can hear it now, maybe we can move up to a HDT a lil later).
Ps. we have 98 model like yours with 560k miles and still going strong (300 cat)new paint and polished wheels and it was like a new truck.
Happy Trails
