We are planning our first big TT trip next summer from Louisiana to Wyoming. Anyone have suggestions on a good fuel rewards or discount card to use or is it better to just use a credit card with the standard 1% rewards?

Get the Flying J / Good Sam card. Usually a nickel off and a penny per gal in pts

Chase Freedom and Discover both usually do 5% cash back on gas during the 1st and 3rd qtr of the year (Jan-Mar, Jul-Sep). I have an Amex Simply Cash card that give 3% cash back on gas up to 75 gals at a time for the other times of year.

At $3 a gallon, the 5c discount and 1pt per gal (assuming 1pt = 1c in cashback) is only a 2% discount not to mention it best discount would be at Pilot/Flying J.

PenFed VISA, pay at the pump get 5% back at the end of the month. Plus I still use FJ discount

Pen Fed for 5%, Bank of America for 3% when the Pen Fed card cannot be swiped a second time.

some of the PFJ pumps now say VISA limits are $495, that is correct $495. Last time I hit $183 without stopping.

Cash will get you .05 -.10 off per gallon at many stations.

If you use GasBuddy.com to locate stations with low prices, that can add up, in addition to the ccard discount. I have a 60gal bed tank and can often locate a fuel stop with a price significantly lower than FJ/Pilot. 25c on 80 gal is $20...for me, that is about $90 on a 4000mile trip.
I have quit using FJ/Pilot, even with the 6ct off, as I can usually find it much cheaper using the iPnone/nav fuel apps.

Thanks for the ideas. May just be best to use gas buddy. I was leaning toward the pilot/fj but noticed there aren't any on the southern Colorado portion of our trip.

Do you have a diesel pusher with a tow? If so, Pilot/Flying J is the fastest and usually easiest way to fill up. They have high capacity pumps if you use the truck lanes instead of the car/rv lanes, AND, you don't have to keep reinserting the card due to a limit on the purchase. They also have bulk DEF in the truck lanes if your rig requires that. The DEF may be on the wrong side of the rig but if you carry a separate clean 5 gallon can, it's easy to refill those and pour in when you camp. Another really handy card that works at many truck stops is a CFN network card. No limit on purchases and they also have their own unattended truck fueling locations, usually handy to the highways. I carry both and wouldn't be without them. Google CFN fueling network to get all the details. Happy Trails!

Many fuel stations give big fuel discounts for 3 mo after applying for a new credit card. You can apply for 2 or more cards at different places, 76, Valero, etc that make that offer and use them on your trip. I always use my B of A Visa that gives 3% back. Cashed in my points last month and got over $1,500.00 back. Yahooo

The Flying J RV frequent fueler card is not a credit card, but gives $.01 or $.03 per gallon discount (gas / diesel), and allows use of your own credit card but at cash price for the fuel.

Shell Fuel Rewards.. No comment on how good, I do not often use

WAL*Mart Gift card.. Depending on the time of year you fill up a Wal*Mart Pre-paid refillable Gift card in the store, either at Customer Service, the auto cash machine or a Register during checkout.

Then you pull into a MURPHY's USA gas station and you get either 3¢ or a dime off per gallon (At least on gasoline).

Side note on Flying-J... You also get points which you can use for stuff inside the store.
