Gas mileage when Towing a TT
'I have a 2011 Ram 1500 with 5.7 HEMI V8. I get around town about 15 MPG and on the road close to 18 MPG. If I put a 7,600 pound TT on the back what can I expect for MPG -- 8?' Know it depends on if I'm on flat ground or mountains, and how I personally drive, but maybe a 'ballpark' figure? Of course, I don't think this will stop us from RV'ing!!

I would say you are pretty close. I have a chevy 2500 and when I pull my 32' trailer it cuts my mileage in half. I am with you I will still go out this year, maybe just take shorter trips! Happy camping.

2011 ram 1500 with hemi pulling 26' veiwfinder. About 5,500 Lbs when loaded. 10 to 11 MPG.

Well I had a 7060 lb TT trailer towed with a suburban 2500 and my gas mileage normally is 11 MPG and it only dropped to 10.9/10.8 over a drive of 119 miles. I was happy about that. This was down I 75 from Chattanooga to Atlanta. Not many mountain here.

Yep GMC 2500hd crew cab 6.0 FI. Around 11 city...drops to 8 or 9 toawing......big gas sucker but power to tow

Front profile of the trailer will have a lot to do with mileage, but anywhere from 8-10 would be a good guess. Towing in the mountains actually doesn't hurt the mileage as much as you think. You will drastically reduce it going up, but you will gain it back on the other side.

I have a Dodge 5.9- 6sp std and Open Range 340. GCW of 20,500lb and averaged 9.3 until the last trip of 1550mi when I tried keeping the speed down to 60-63mph, my results were unbelievable, 11.6 for the average with some tankfuls as good as 12.6. I've heard this over and over but would become bored at the slow speed and wouldn't stick with it. Now while traveling I often wander what the rush was to get there a bit earlier and jeopardize the tires and safety. Try it if you dare.

Towing a 4600k tt with a 4.7L Toyota 4_Runner V-8. Solo 15-17 city, 23-24 hi-way. Towing 58-60 mph 11-12.5 mpg.... raise the speed to 64 -65 and it goes down to the 10 range.
