Does anyone know what the breaks in the bars mean?

Looks like the mid-point on the scale to me...
I guess the white bars are the readouts as the temps climb?
As to what temps the breaks represent, no idea.
Have you gone thru the owners manual?

Yes & didn't see anything.

The bar is just broken into quarter range segments... the first break on the oil temp gauge is just 1/4 of the range over C

So, how does one figure out what "H" is so you know you are half-way there? These gauges are why I have a separate monitor that shows any 4 parameters I choose that the truck computer reports, in digital format, along with trans gear and whether the torque converter is locked up. The analog gauges in my Ford hardly ever move, once up to operating temp--but I can see plenty of movement on the monitor.

Factory Gauges are like Christmas tree ornaments, lovely to look at but don't serve much purpose.

There are so many options these days for monitoring you vehicle with your phone that is is very inexpensive to watch the correct temps especially when towing.
